I have a feeling SONY is trolling the gaming community, there's NO WAY they're abandoning the hardcore gamers with this ultra casual POS
It hasn't yet penetrated outside of the gaming world. As usual, SONY isn't marketing the way they should be.
I think we saw with the PS3 that brand loyalty means nothing. About half of PS2 owners abandoned SONY for alternative options such as Microsoft's Xbox 360.
Brand loyalty manifests in a hilarious way on N4G though:D
Playstation owners have spoken.
I agree with them. My other most wanted feature is cross game chat and improved controller.
So it's pretty much confirmed that the PS4 controller will borrow heavily from the ergonomic Xbox 360 controller and recycle the Wii U front screen.
Imitation is the highest form of flattery, but what happened to the innovative SONY of the PS2 days? Are those days so far gone?
Where did the SONY I know and love go?
Achievements/trophies only mattered to me when I was single. Pretty sure there is a correlation there.
This isn't the first time we've seen devs being forced to go multiplatform after the PS3 user base failed to support them. Not surprised.
EDIT -
@rage it's well known that SONY offered another three year contract and thatgamecompany turned it down due to financial difficulties of having three PSN exclusives fall below expectations sales wise. Google is your friend.
Microsoft scores higher than Sony.
No surprise.
The D-pad has been fixed for a few years now. Much better. Internal batteries would have been expensive in 2005, but not so now. I definitely see them adding that.
Otherwise the controller won't change. Nintendo has already made their controller more like Microsoft's and I have no doubt Sony will copy as well. Aside from cross game chat, a better controller is the most wanted feature from the Sony faithful.
M$ did a great job with their controller and...
EGM, 1Up, Giant Bomb, and Gamespy all paid off by M$. FACT.
Thanks for telling us Morgan.
p.s. Morgan is a girls name
I purchase a console primarily based on a single or few strong exclusives. Mainly, Halo for the Xbox and Mario/Pokemon for Nintendo. The Xbox and Wii have other benefits I use, but I choose them because of the specific game.
The Playstation on the other hand has no recognizable exclusive games; hence why I watch Blu ray's on my PS3. Sony has been struggling for years with establishing its own identity and they've had some good picks: LBP, GOW, Uncharted, etc., but not...
@PimpMaster
I think you're mistaken. Microsoft has never said that the 720 would be more of a media hub. Sony on the other hand said these exact words yesterday:
"SCE official says that the PlayStation 4 will act as more of a home entertainment hub than what we've seen in the past"
http://n4...
I used to say the same things about music. Now I buy 90% of my music digitally. I haven't seen the latest CD sales, but I'm assuming they're continuing to fall while digital is continuing to rise.
Like it or not, I'm betting within 10 years most gaming will be done digitally. You should still be able to buy your physical copy, but the industry will change. Publishers will soon be counting more on digital sales than physical sales, etc.
PS4 isn't going to have any games, let alone exclusives, about 2 years into the PS4 life cycle. The PS4 is being set up to be the next Dreamcast unless SONY can radically improve their fiscal results.
Half of Playstation owners abandoned Sony this gen, how many more will do so next gen?
Cross game chat
USA! USA! USA!
Fact is many, MANY people purchased and continue to purchase the PS3 for Blu ray, not for gaming. See the low game attach ratio for proof. SONY chose to market it that way, so blame them if you have to blame someone.
Personally, I need a few more positive quarters from SONY before I invest in a PS4. I don't want a Dreamcast repeat.
lol M$ must be loving all this free publicity. Aren't we supposed to be talking about the PS4?
Announcement or no announcement, I'm going to be waiting a few years before I buy a PS4. Sony hasn't given me, as an investor, confidence that the PS4 won't be the next Dreamcast. Before I spend $500+, I want to be sure that my consoles name won't be changed halfway through the generation to 'Samsung Playstation'.
How nice of SONY, going ahead with the most wanted feature of PS3 owners on the PS4.
What a great service they are doing gamers by making us rebuy all of our PS3 games. I've been a Playstation fan since the beginning but it's underhanded tactics like this that make me ashamed of SONY.
I'm looking for real BC on the PS4. If Microsoft sticks with BC and Sony doesn't; that could be the deciding factors for many gamers including myself.
