Just as knowingly causing financial damage to a person by distributing someone's social security number is considered illegal, doing the same to a business is also illegal.

Geohot is knowingly damaging not just one business, but many (including many 3rd party developers who are already struggling to stay afloat), and by releasing this information to the public, he has broken the law.

Hacking a PS3 or any console is not, in itself, illegal. Distributi...

Here's the key point:

"Sony won't be able to stop people from running pirated game copies as long as the machines are not hooked up online."

All that's required is a few lines of code on every retail disc that performs an online "check-in" to unlock the game. Every publisher and developer will want to have that code on their discs because they, far more than Sony, have the most to loose from piracy.

As f...

The Zune is and always has been utterly mediocre.

I haven't tried Qriocity but, as much as I personally despise the itunes software and quicktime, the reality is that Apple's iPod/iPhone OS, which changed the world almost overnight, is by far the best one out there and the number of attempted knockoffs by everyone from Google to Samsung is testament to Apple's leadership in OS design and usability.

Sony has been trying to match Apple's des...

A lot of hacking is just theft and distribution of stolen property.

Freedom of speech protects people's rights to expression.

It doesn't protect things like copyright infringment or trading in things that aren't yours.

It also doesn't matter how you distribute the code. Only that you intentionally distribute it. While there is the occasional exception due to incompetence by the courts, it's been demonstrated countl...

made it into an actual simulator.

Forza 3 is not a simulator. The tracks are intentionally the wrong dimensions (to make it more "fun," they say), the handling lacks precision and realism (though much improved over Forza 2's atrocious physics), the damage is not real-time deformation (it's simple mesh and texture swapping), and some of the most basic and fundamental aspects of real-life racing, like weather and light considerations, are completely absent....

is that you can't see how safe you are.

That's what happens in real life.

My biggest complaint about Killzone 3 is that they made it too arcadey compared to the nearly all-out war-simulation quality of Kilzone 2 (I say nearly because you can take multiple hits and still live/recover). Having said that, it's not as pathetically fake as COD, Halo, or any of the the other generic FPS games out there.

It's still a unique experien...

Is a Live account worth $60 per year when competing consoles and PC gamers get similar capabilities free of charge?

Is a USB wifi adapter worth $100?

If you paid for the above, then yes, Kinect is absolutely worth $150 to you.

I hope you buy it.

It will help my investment portfolio which includes MSFT.

That's the difference between real-time dynamic lighting (GT5) that accounts for earth's rotation and the el cheapo static "baked" lighting (nearly all other games).

One of the most remarkable things about GT5 is how precisely the road surface and dimensions are simulated. No other console sim has modeled these correctly, presumably, due to memory constraints. How Polyphony Digital managed to squeeze that much track surface detail into the PS3's 512MB ...

That looks a heck of lot better than Kinect.

I wonder what kind of camera setup they're using.

It seems like the capture resolution no better than Kinect (no fingers, for example), the precision with which they're capturing movement is far superior.

is that young girls who have sex are labeled as "sluts" and have to keep it a secret while boys are given a pat on the back and congratulated for being able to bed an older woman.

When my friends and I were that age, we all wanted to get with older women and a couple of us actually succeeded (so they say).

I doubt the boy would be scarred for life since it's was probably only statutory rape rather than a case of coercion or intimidation as happe...

is shockingly common.

Happens all the time. Happens even more in wars. Military contractors have been raping women and children in Iraq and selling the videos online. Raping children was common during the Vietnam war as well. Children are regularly imported from Mexico and Eastern Europe into the US to be sex slaves.

This is the sick reality of the human species.

It's always been this way. In fact, it used to be much worse.

Should be in the top 5.

You can find ugly screen shots of any game. What matters is how the games look at their best.

Graphically, both God of War 3 and GT5, according to actual game developers, completely and utterly blow away all competitors in their respective genre's by a massive margin.

A sim has accurately recreated tracks. Forza 3's tracks, even the Nurburgring, are intentionally altered to make the game more "fun."

Forza 3's physics aren't quite sim quality either resulting in much faster corner speeds and lack of sufficient detail and depth in feedback and response. Having said that, it must be noted that a notable area of improvement in Forza 3 over previous Forza games is the improved sense of weight.

Forza 3 do...

but it isn't a sim.

Forza 3's tracks are inaccurate by choice. Turn10 intentionally changed track dimensions to make it more "fun."

Forza 3's driving physics are somewhat arcadey as well and lacks the nuance and subtle feel of a true sim.

Forza 3's crashes do not feature real time deformation. They simply swap out sections of car geometry and textures.
