Snake appeared originally on the first Metal Gear game, which was available on the NES.

Simon Belmont appeared originally in Castlevania II, which was on the NES.

Both of these characters have history with Nintendo. Even Cloud from Final Fantasy does. Joker has been in Persona Q2.

@LegoIsAwesome: but Cloud did appear in Theatrythm and Final Fantasy Explorers, as well as a few Kingdom Heart games, all of which were available on Nintendo platforms prior to Smash 4.

Joker has been in Persona Q2 for the 3DS.

And most important of all: there were no cringe moments, in my opinion. This was a great show, I don't know what people were expecting.

Not on that caliber, no. But they are publishing Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, which looks pretty cool, which was a nice surprise along with this Smash announcement.

Lol yeah, not tanking the bait. Bad try, bro, bad try.

2/10.

Dude, it's alright if you didn't enjoy the Smash games, or fighting games in general. The thing is, you're basically saying that you don't understand why other people enjoy something you don't, and use a ridiculous oversimplification to downplay it.

Personally, I don't like strategy games. They are boring as fuck for me. But I understand why other people love them. Different tastes and all that.

It would be cool, but why would they do that when they can just re-release each one individually and still have them sell boatloads? Metroid Prime Trilogy was the exception, not the rule.

Read the review, then? They explain some cons on the game that justify not giving it a perfect score.

2385d ago 3 agree0 disagreeView comment

It's extremely easy to use that stupid simplification of yours to downplay everything. Every game is, ultimately, repetitive within the constraints of its own genre. Whether you enjoy said repetition or not is another matter, and millions of people enjoy fighting randos over and over again on the various Smash games, myself included.

Also, if your fighting game love started and ended on the SNES, it doesn't even sound like you've given Smash Bros a fair chance, ...

1. Mario isn't Super Smash Bros' protagonist. He's just one of the many characters in there.

2. There are plenty of games with Mario as the main character, or with Mario on its name, with mediocre to outright bad review scores. Having Mario on it guarantees sales, not critical acclaim.

The Zelda Trilogy? What Trilogy? There's way more than just 3 Zelda games. 0_o

@Razmiran: shit, I'd completely forgotten about that one. Which was right after the announcement of the Bayo 1 & 2 Switch ports, if I recall. Good call.

Here's hoping they do a repeat of that this year and announce the Prime Trilogy for Switch followed by a first trailer for Metroid Prime 4, then!

Yes, please. People fixate way too much on the game's shortcomings (of which yes, there were many), and don't give it enough credit for the stuff it did right. The dialogue, characters, world building and lore were all absolutely fantastic, not to mention the graphics. Even the story itself was pretty damn good and intriguing, but it felt like the game ended abruptly when the actual story was just getting started. As far as cliffhangers go, I think this is one of the worst I've ev...

Lolo and Ninja Gaiden are excellent games (IDK about Wario's Woods, never played it). Nintendo should do something with the Lolo IP for the Switch.

I hope it's true. I'd buy the shit out of this.

I would be perfectly happy if they announced just this, TBH. To date, Nintendo hasn't made a big reveal on the Game Awards, ever. At least not that I recall.

Of course, I would be even happier if they announced this and then followed it with a trailer for Metroid Prime 4.

I bought mine at launch, and played the shit out of Zelda BOTW, Mario Odyssey and especially Splatoon 2.

But this year it has collected dust because the exclusives released for it so far haven't interested me (though admittedly I still have Xenoblade Chronicles 2 pending from last year, and its expansion, so there's that).

It'll get use again for sure from my part once Smash comes out.

It doesn't even have Gran Turismo. That alone shows a big problem with this piece of hardware. It's like making a NES Classic without Super Mario Bros, or a SNES Classic without Super Mario World. It's insanity.

Platformers not made by Nintendo, you mean.
