That’s not true at all. Here is a direct quote from Mac Walters of BioWare. They have been transparent in saying they aren’t touching next gen because it’s a bridge too far without a complete overhaul:

I mean this is a PS3/360 era franchise so I have no problem with it being optimized for X1/PS4. It’s a generational improvement. That’s where they are going to get most sales. Microsoft pays the developers to put the games in their service. Sony is pushing this multi platform because I think they understand it’s a chance for additional profit on a video game product that’s not super personal because it’s a sport and not a franchise like say Ratchet and Clank. Can’t even get the enhancements on the Series S...shows that console version is pointless. No point in getting it if you have a One S/X. I know it’s still more powerful, but these developers aren’t going to risk bad performance designing for it, and are going to treat it like a last-gen.

I kind of agree and think the GamePass model is dangerous if it becomes the norm. It could easily become a “live service” model fiasco in future where the quality is sacrificed for quantity in the form of “future promises”
And especially considering the first big swing Microsoft has taken in exclusive games was The Medium, and it was kind of a dud. I’d rather them pump more effort into the quality of those games rather than the ability to stream games anywhere.
