Same here. Not only is it one of my favourite RPGs, it's also one of my favourite ever games. I keep coming back to it time and time again.
Why market something that isn't designed to be sold?
This has GP rental written all over it.
Exactly, and honestly compared to some games on Steam that are effectively porn, Stellar Blade is very tame. There was zero need to censor it, but of course there's ESG and DEI that companies have to comply with.
So every time I play the game EA profit from it, even after I've spent £70 to buy it in the first place? Nah thanks.
Maybe put ads in a game that has launched on Gamepass to generate some extra income, but if I've had to shell out money to buy the game outright, then no way should it contain ads. Oh, and you can piss off with your AI crap too.
Won't buy. Simple.
It's not just this though. It's a much wider issue. For example, look what Penguin have been doing to Roald Dahl's books. They employ 'sensitivity writers' - whatever the hell they are - to rewrite parts of his work. How dare they change the author's work, in order to satisfy DEI nonsense! If people don't like it, they don't have to read it!
It's happening everywhere. We're getting to the point where we're no longer allowed to mak...
Why should it be censored to begin with? It's a game aimed at adults. Therefore it shouldn't need censoring at all. I do wish media would stop trying to infantalise everyone. Let us make our own choices ffs!
No worries. Take care.
It won't matter. No matter how good it is, it won't sell. HB2 is absolutely not a system seller to begin with, and apart from that, it's on Gamepass day one. People won't buy it, they'll rent it. Especially when you consider it's about 8 hours long, I can't imagine anyone wanting to throw down £50+ on such a short game.
Microsoft are the worst thing that could ever happen to the games industry. I've said it from the very first Xbox. <...
Greed. That's it
Employees are expendable. That's how most corporations view them. You're fine while they have a use for you, but when they don't, well, no hard feelings eh. We're just numbers.
I've asked this question since the very first one.
No, this isn't growing pains. Xbox has been on the scene for over 20 years.
This is Microsoft not being content with competing, they want to own and control the industry. Buy out as many major devs/publishers as possible so that they own all the IPs. It's only the IPs they care about. Not the Studio's, not the people. They're an insidious, cancerous company and are the worst thing to ever happen to the gaming industry.
You had me up until the end and then you killed your own argument. Nobody, and I mean NOBODY, not even Phil Spencer, knows more about any of this than Obscure Observer 🤣.
I eagerly await his next post praising Phil for not being afraid to make those tough decisions.
Thank you Phil! Thank you Team Xbox! Let's go!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!
He's been very quiet recently. I was really looking forward seeing how he would spin all this as a good thing.
The plan is to buy up as many studios as possible, shut then down and keep the IPs so they can then earn a fortune on licensing.
Yeah and it'll also destroy creativity, as well as cause more job losses.
The more I hear things like this, the more I think the games industry is finished. I see nothing to be excited about any more.
They're not destroying the IPs. It's the IPs they want, not the studios.
It's actually a very average game. If it wasn't for EVE and being able to play dress up with her, it wouldn't be getting talked about at this point. There's nothing special or unique about it at all.
I mean, it doesn't matter how good it is, if it's on Gamepass then it won't sell.
If I were working for Ninja Theory or any MS studio i think I'd be looking for another job. I wouldn't think anyone would be safe.
Could it be...Obscure?
