@Darth
Think tank is a good way of describing it from what they've been doing.
It's also very similar to what we see in TV and Film. There is a place for it in gaming, too.
I remind people that Sakurai is credited the same as Bandai for Smash. Yet, Sora, Ltd. is just 2 employees - Sakurai and his wife. So who really developed Smash Bros.?
We don't pay attention to these co-development situations too much ...
Go back and listen to the devs and leaders in those initial interviews from 2018. That's when they discussed doing things differently and being "agile" as a team.
The AAAA thing came from a job posting. I wouldn't read that as a reflection on their intention to be a massive studio.
The idea that they would team with someone like Crystal actually reflects those AAAA ambitions, doesn't it? Like I said, co-development isn't abnormal...
It's not what people are familiar with, mostly because Crystal is a big name, but it's not abnormal. Crystal's potential sale to Embracer also shows us why they were interested in doing a co-development deal.
But you can look at Nintendo with something like Smash, or look at what World's Edge is doing with AoE for some other examples of co-development arrangements.
There are a lot of studios out there that focus entirely on co-developing w...
The conversion rates have just been released.
Yes, really. They have to, don't they?
They need to keep working on content, so of course they should be taking on more. BR, events, cosmetics, etc. all need to be in the pipeline or else that 6 month season only gets longer.
Plus, basic development process tells us that you can't just assign all of the devs and contractors to assist the teams working on co-op and forge. Your art folks, narrative, sound, etc. aren't going to change their field...
Lol. They're going to mention successful aspects of the company. It's their job. Even if it upsets you.
If they need help coming up with lame analogies, I'm sure you could offer your resume.
@Mr. Beatdown
Those older games have been locked behind PS Now for 8 years now. We're either going to be lucky enough to be allowed to rebuy some of them (yay!) or we're subbing to access them.
In the case of PS3, our only way is to stream.
I'm sure you can, but that doesn't mean it makes any sense.
Even the most diehard defenders have to start looking at the Sony scorecard here:
MP - behind a pay wall
Cloud saves - behind a pay wall
BC - behind a pay wall
Game trials - behind a pay wall
Blame whomever you want if it makes you feel better. At a certain point, you got to start to wonder if it might just be Sony that is getting a bit greed...
Haha, you do have to take the good with the bad, that's for sure.
Nintendo does manage ok with most of its directs. But we also get things like that Switch Sports volleyball segment recently.
I've never gone out to E3, but have hit a few PAXs and a few Cons on the east coast. Always a good time.
Still waiting for those bad ass promos, though.
I always enjoyed the trade shows, and the presentations that came with them. Judging by all of the attention, gossip, and excitement that comes with every announcement of a Direct/Showcase/State of Play, I think most consumers still want the big shows and massive hype that comes with it.
Virtual events have potential, but there's a reason so many people compare them to things like E3 every time imo.
Welcome to the console wars.
Some of us think it's great that indies and niche stuff gets made and gets attention.
Hey, it's everyone's favorite alt account spammer!
It stays around 300+. If you get Ultimate, you'll get about 90 more from EA play, and then the PC titles.
Many of the PC titles are also on console unless it's some like Warhammer or AoE.
A "fact" that they legally should NOT do.
Similar language was already in their proxy statement.
No, let's actually be real here. Nobody should give a shit how others play games.
Tons of mods out there for Sekiro. Easy mod, defense buffs, etc.
@Dark
It doesn't really work that way. Paying for chip priority isn't paying to lower the supply to others.
Sony just dropped $1b on some metaverse crap. Start there in your complaints.
Series S production has been easier to push through, but even with paying for chip priority at different times, PS has still been ordering more chips than Xbox.
Just a reminder of why it wasn't really in our best interest when Sony b...
Did you play it? He's not wrong imo.
Combat was solid, but the repetitive mission....hideout....mission. ...hideout...got pretty old.
1/2 of the companion missions just had you go on lunch dates with you teammates.
I'd only recommend it on GP or on a very deep discount to play around with the combat. There are many better games for your money out there.
So much effort to downplay some relatively good news.
@kakbeans
Not sure how that conflicts with anything I said, lol.
They're familiar with Crystal. Crystal had availability and apparently the need for cash. Initiative would not be able to stay "small and agile" (their words pre- deal with Crystal) if they took on the 100's of employees necessary to make a AAA game in this short of time.
On one hand, it's like some people want to acknowledge that it's a big deal...
