It's ultimately up to the consumer. If consumers are too ignorant then scams will run rampant.
In this industry it's a bit harder as many consumers are under-age and rely on the parents to make purchases based on their demand. Under these conditions it becomes very hard to eliminate predatory business practices. Parents want to provide for the wants of their children while the child wants something regardless of consequence.
Thankfully, I'm...
The Xbox brand is founded heavily on it's ability to be popular. It mattered not the amount of high quality titles. It certainly helped, of course, but the popularity of Xbox Live (not the quality) of it's existance made the console a success.
With their recent backfire of business practices I'd expect they will suffer for years to come, regardless if they reversed their policies. It is now a trust issue...much the same as Sony and their PS3.
DRM is present on all digital titles, add-ons, and other DLC. The importance of DRM as a presence is how intrusive it becomes to the consumer. The dream is to let DRM exist without affecting the honest consumer whatsoever...whether that be now or in 10 years. That's the way I'd like it to be.
They seem to have the advantage over Microsoft anyway. However, last generation the Wii launched last and made it's way to 1st place almost instantly.
I think in the long run the best console for the money will win out in the end.
There is a flaw in the mathematical evaluation. The value of the games should be based on rental prices, not purchase prices. The reason behind this error is due to the fact the digital games are never "yours" from an ownership standpoint.
As a matter of fact no digital games should be priced like a disc due to the involvement of a service with accompanying terms. PS Plus, including any other service, is subsription-based and should be treated as such.
Why is she complaining about it now? Wasn't she there when they had 20 suction cups attached to her face and cameras all around?
Wasn't she there when they showed the change in her character's appearance. Wouldn't that be a more proper time to say "hey, the change isn't good enough"?
Seriously where was she during the entire development of this game? She had several years to say something. Why wait until after the game is...
It is very important to strart bringing up issues regarding digital games and the drm measures that control them. There are some questions that need answered like keeping games after their service stops or what happens if you don't agree to their terms 1,2, or 5 years after you purchase a game?
I would support digital if it became as free as a disc when their service ended. There is no reason I should be asking these questions 8 years into the digital age. I fear that...
The Last of Us had higher ticket prices.
This is true with all current gen digital games. Microsoft is taking it a step further by including discs. This is why I refuse to buy anymore games tied to an account. There is no reason to attach your purchases to your behavior. They are two seperate things.
I've noticed this happening where the developer would show the PC version of the game for all their advertisements. I've noticed this with the Battlefield 3 videos that I downloaded from the PSN store. I was hugely disappointed when the console version came out. To me the videos made the game's graphics much better than what they actually were and felt it was false advertisement.
With Aliens Colonial Marines they did the same thing when they showed off the pc v...
Your kungfu is good...but how about this!
Microsoft's new theme song...
You're right. They are just blocking offline gaming.
Microsoft's real strategy to block used games...
Having used game retailers go under from handing out 77 million flyers.
Only they are allowed to use cgi. Everyone else is competition.
Microsoft may buckle under this pressure and change their policy.
Digital games should be owned and copyable and tied to your console account name and password. It should have the freedom to be backed up properly, without activation from a server to play it again. As llong as you use the game on the console and know your password you can play it. This would be favorable to all gamers and game collectors while reducing the chances of piracy.
Used games should be charged a small license transfer fee while the console generation is still cu...
There is much nongaming business potential with internet. So much can be done with consoles that can make these companies extra money.
They can advertise, sell consumer data to business and research, deliver movies, stores, music, and even cable now.
The problem I see is their complete disregard to a gamer's value. Microsoft has always reminded me of an "add-on" company. They don't seem to be in it for the games. They seek to improve...
Now I know why they started targeting the mass market. They need a large group of ignorant people that don't pay attention to the things they buy.
Things like this happen because people don't play their role as Americans and pay attention to their world. Start getting involved as citizens and vote. Otherwise the world will be run for you...instead of by you.
