Renting would be better suited for you then. It's cheaper than paying full price for a game that has no ownership or "control".
The main reason we pay the premium price vs. renting is to control, or own, our games. With digital it appears they want the full price without giving the control we paid for.
I've tried the reselling the console thing. It doesn't work well. As soon as it leaves the store the value drops. I learned that with the PS3, when I picked up 4 consoles.
I tried to sell it off on Ebay. The value drops 20% even when new. People just don't trust anyone outside the big retailers. It's just not worth the risk buying from unknowns. I feel sorry for those picking up 3-4 PS4s if they plan on reselling them. They are at an even bigger disa...
Never buy digital unless you can accept the fact you will never have full control over the format.
All digital titles are governed by a service. Physical discs thus far are not. Personally, I think digital will destroy itself as a format because everyone will be a victim of loss thanks to the incompentency and unreliability of the service industry.
After my experiences with the PS3 anything is possible.
Remember when the PS3 was destroyed with a sledgehammer?
I do. I kept thinking about the absurdity of the act. How can one stand in line with half a month's earnings just to take it out and destroy it?
The only conclusions were either the person had no value for money or the attention was worth the money wasted. In either case they had no value in what they were destroying.
In the case of this PS4 he purchased a warranty from the sto...
How about the top 10 places to find a PS4...so that I can play the top 10 games available for the system?
I dont think PS4 will have the same shortage issues as the PS3.
A perfect example of why I don't buy digital through a service. Your purchases lie in the hands of someone else.
I think it would be interesting to have the option to have a bot play for you while you suspend a game. It's better than a disconnect but an interesting concept nonetheless.
Of course the bot would perform as good as you do. It could also keep online modes running long after it's released.
I do not like to be controlled with things I buy. That is why buying is more expensive than renting.
Suspend and Resume. A good feature for a single player game, watching videos, and playing music. Don't think it will work well during online matches. It's all realtime gaming. Pausing would be unwise.
According to Vgchartz, the PS3 is in 2nd place by about 2 million consoles.
Given the fact that video games today are largely tied to online accounts I'd say consumers will weigh heavily on their investments before deciding to change brands.
This appears to be the strategy of all digital based gaming consoles. Hook consumers into their product and hope they don't jump ship.
The PS4 and Xbox One will be a close preorder situation ...
Well said. People tend to criticize what they perceive are another's faults...such as when they make a mistake or are not doing things "right".
Please note that those who criticize seem to take note under the pretense of "trying to do you a favor" when in reality their observation (made public of course) is to satisfy their own agenda of self superiority.
This conclusion I have drawn stems from the question of why these people never...
I don't understand why these companies are running PS3/PS4/360/one games through a PC in the first place. They are essentially setting themselves up for possible failure in not meeting the target product they are striving for.
To me it's product fraud. Even if the target is reached it still demonstrates a product not realized or proven. Aliens: Colonial Marines seems to demonstrate this.
The only delusion is thinking the console war actually exists.
The war we gamers fight is on the wrong front. We arrived in the wrong country, at the wrong time...fighting a war of belief that no one will ever win. A war of dominance.
The real war is this...
Gamers vs. the Industry, not each other. It is a war that will never occur if these companies maintain their distraction over us. The distraction of brand loyalty. The real war will a...
My only concern lies in the fate of PS3 and Xbox 360 digital purchases. It shouldn't be a current concern but rather something to consider later on in the next generation.
If one were to look at the history of PS2/Xbox support, we can see a trend of eliminating the history of video games. Backwards compatability was lost on both consoles, although remedied through keeping the original consoles. DLCs, add-ons, and full games that source from a server need the full attent...
I support the company who supports ownership of digital content. I support the company that supports physical disc formats instead of pushing digital.
The first company that develops a DRM release of old digital purchases while creating a reliable backup plan in the event their service stops will receive all my support.
If you can't restore your games from a backup without an internet connection to "activate" your games then those backups wil...
Just wait until animal rights comes into play.
I hope this excludes Windows.
That's great news! In my humble opinion they should meet demand this time around...I'll tell you why.
A console is like a store. Without it no one can buy. The problem with the PS3 launch was their shortage of consoles at launch. Therefore a shortage of stores.
If the PS4 can supply the units then they can sell more software. I hope they can meet or exceed 5 million units in the U.S. by Christmas in order to establish a proper foothold in this ma...
