Agreed yet the format with which one chooses defines its' execution of such terms.
More specifically, the digital vs. physical format. With a physical disc one can own the disc with less restrictions around its' use. There is no account, internet, or membership governing its' use.
As for digital access, an account or membership is required along with reliance of a server to deliver said games to the consumer. Add to that a 5 page list of ru...

Still no ownership despite their long time existence and reputation.
Gamestop died of losing pulse of hardcore gamers. They never did favors, giveaways, or made it a place to hangout. Always full prices and had nothing unique to offer the gaming population.
I did not find the PS4 as interesting as the PS3. It seemed to be a step back for me.
I hope the PS5 is as passionate about games as the PS3 system. I really admired the PS3 generation of games.
Are they seriously releasing this remake in parts?
Finally! I have arthritis now.
They should release special edition consoles for those that still value it.
Just make better hardware and be done with it. Stop advertising service as the savior to everything.
Most consumers don't know or don't care. I've accepted the fact that video games will be appreciated by an insignificant minority to the industry.
As a game collector I think digital formats and services will destroy the ability to maintain the past. It's all dependant on the now.
Then change the name to Playstation THEN.
Of course. They turned gaming into a trend, a social activity, and a popularity contest, instead of keeping people interested in video games. Now the industry will suffer because it became successful based on the wrong reasons.
I love video games but not like this. There is so much to say regarding this issue that explaining it will do no justice for the impatient.
In a nutshell, once physical products are gone so am I. Gaming is going to be a rental box where gamers pay full price for games they do not own. People say they do not care about ownership yet they run out and pay ownership prices for these games. If a service controls your "purchase" it is not yours. It is theirs providing...
I'm not really interested in service based consoles. Both seem to be like rental boxes where they'll be useless without services.
To watch movies you need a service. To play online you need a service. To listen to music you need a service. To listen to custom soundtracks you need a service. Thank god they still included discs this gen otherwise there'd be nothing left free from service.
If you include the price of software to run it then no. A Windows OS alone is 200.00. With the PS4 it's not only included but it's more dedicated to the hardware it operates on.
I just hope they understand the needs of gamers in a digital world:
1) Make digital titles accessible if/when your service discontinues.
2) Stop charging ownership prices for games that are rentals in disguise.
3) If my fingers bleed for 5 hours doing labor, I expect the purchase to represent the value I paid for!
4) I dream that digital software will be released of DRM if/when the service that governs it ever goes down. The...
I have laid dormant for 2,550 days. I am now resurrected to educate a new generation of gamers...despite one less hand and a batch of arthritis in the other of course...
