PSFocus writes: A new Yakuza, but a totally different one this time. Zombies made it to Tokyo and you have to take care of business. Right move to make a zombie shooter or not? Find out in our review.
RGG Studio, the developers behind Yakuza and Judgment, have blown up recently, but should their older, obscure games be given a second chance?
Absolutely, especially ishin and kenzan. I also played the kurohyou psp game that was translated recently and had a blast. Now i want more of it but sadly the 2nd one isnt translated. Maybe RGG studio could port it to some kind of HD collection? Would be cool
Yakuza Ishin and Kenzan should totally get a remaster/port for modern consoles with a western localization. Dead Souls I'm more on the fence. I had fun with that game. But it's undoubtedly far below the franchise standard.
There was an interview where they mentioned they are giving it a second thought just because Ghost of Tsushima did so well, previously they were not convinced those games would find an audience in the west.
Personally I would love it if they ported these over.
Yeah, Yakuza: Dead Souls is very loud and very dumb, but sometimes that's exactly what you really need.
It's the best zombie game I played with a very mutual serious tone story that does not take itself to a serious if that makes sense
I highly recommend you play this game I just wish they would update the controls because the controls are just kind of weird. But you get used to it after a few hours
Very fun game. I would love a sequel. The first person controls were hard at first, but once you learn the trick to quick aim, its cake. Another overlooked classic.
Get to the Top sang by Majima is alone a reason to play this hidden gem.
This game was garbage, no I’m not talking about the story or whatever I mean the core gameplay it was absolute rubbish.
YouTube’s ‘reznoire’ has shared two videos, showing Gran Turismo HD Concept and Yakuza: Dead Souls running on the PC thanks to the best PS3 emulator, RPCS3. While emulation is not perfect yet, these two titles can be described as a bit playable at this point.
its a side game
dont let this game cloud judgement of the series
3,4 and the 3 portable games and the upcoming 5
I...just.... I just can't stop myself from wanting to buy it. I have heard that it's pretty much broken from many sources and I've seen the evidence in videos from late in the game when dozens of cheap enemies can easily back you into a corner and stomp you as you try to stand back up. I can tell it's not a 'good' game but dammit I want it.
As a lifelong zombie nerd with a Japan obsession I just don't think I can avoid buying this game. I did play the demo from the Japanese store (when it was called 'of the end') and I really enjoyed it for what it was. It reminded me in many ways of those super low budget but incredibly imaginative Japanese shlock movies like Machine girl or Tokyo gore police. In the back of my mind I know that I'm gonna regret buying this game when I'm grinding through hours of cheap enemies but I can't help it. So thanks sincerely to all the writers of the bad reviews this game is getting. I appreciate the warning but I shall not be heeding it.
