If there’s one question that is asked a lot about inFAMOUS: Second Son that would be “just how big is the game’s Seattle?”

Now the travel times and the full map have been revealed. If you don't want spoilers on the full map, it's hidden in a separate page, so you can read just the travel times without seeing the map itself.

Haha, it's a very mild spoiler anyway, the map doesn't show anything "dangerous" (that I could notice) and doesn't have labels.

KendrickLamar4064d ago (Edited 4064d ago )

Yeah but people over at "Live on Playstation" who got a copy early are streaming it. I'm trying NOT to watch them.
But we run before the temptation calls

nveenio4064d ago

It took me under three minutes to cross Infamous 2's map from farthest point to farthest point.

So this map is quite a bit bigger, probably. Of course, travel could be slower. Or a lot of the space could be pretty empty. But knowing Sucker Punch's history with Infamous, I'd be surprised if there was a ton of "dead" space.

nveenio4064d ago

Five disagrees? Why? People be weird.

ObiWanaTokie4064d ago

And if they need to scale beautiful epic cities down to the size of my hometown boise idaho, then why not a infamous in boise? 1:1 recreation with almost everything showing up. without the space needle in the shots in this game i bet not one person without knowing its seattle would guess its seattle

ObiWanaTokie4064d ago

This game looks gorgeous!

aide from looks, Downtown seattle has a vibe that no game developer will be able to capture or create.

the space needle is particularly a let down for me as its burried next to emp and all the other glorious dt seattle landmarks. in infamous, just the space needle with what seems like capitol hill below it. oh well still stoked for this game

trywizardo4064d ago

the city is so small , its more like a town ...

JoGam4064d ago (Edited 4064d ago )

Just so you know, Its not a full remake of Seattle however it has some landmarks from the city. They wanted to capture the essence of Seattle. Its a fictitious city made for the gameplay of inFAMOUS.

-Foxtrot4064d ago

If thats true then I really don't know why they called it Seattle a real life city when it's not supposed to be real life Seattle but their version of it for the in game universe.

Empire City - New York

New Marais - New Orleans

Seattle - Seattle

They could of called it Ceattle or Seeattle to show it's different.

JoGam4064d ago

At Foxtrot, its VERY true. During the Infamous party in the UK they said Seattle in the game is NOT the actual city but they took landmarks like the Gum wall and put it in the game. From the horses mouth, they said they created the essence of Seattle but had to build the city to compliment the gameplay of inFAMOUS. Here's the link. http://www.ign.com/articles...

Abriael4064d ago

@-Foxtrot: according to sucker punch they selected the size to be at the service of gameplay and not the other way around.

They called it seattle because it's recognizable, not because it was a 1:1 reproduction. Even Watch_Dogs' chicago isn't as big as the real one, and that goes for every reproduced city in a major game. All of em are scaled down :D

Bathyj4064d ago

No city in a game has ever been a full 1:1 remake. By that logical every city in a game should be fictitious.

HerpesFreeSince934064d ago

It's not big, but it's also not small, it's actually more closer to big than to small, but it's great for an inFamous game.

Irishguy954064d ago

How big is it compared to the last two?

dp2774074064d ago

I believe Nate Fox said it was the about the same size as the last one, which had me worried a little but two was huge and if you think of all the detail and extra stuff you can do, I think i'll be ok with that.

Abriael4064d ago

They said it's pretty much the same, but from what I see it seems quite a big bigger. Not twice as much bigger, but maybe 1.5

nerdman674064d ago

GTA V map was bigger.
I have to admit, I expected a bit larger of a map.

MajorLazer4063d ago

You say that but Gta V had cars, helicopters and jet planes for transport so a bigger map size is appropriate whereas it would be very tedious and boring in inFAMOUS considering the protagonist travels on foot/float etc..

nerdman674063d ago

@Koyes It isnt about that, it is about how the size is pretty much the same as inFamous 2. I expected a larger city to run around and explore in. The first two inFamous games are amazing, they just feel kind of small.

XiSasukeUchiha4064d ago

it's so dense, for an city though lol

BallsEye4064d ago (Edited 4064d ago )

I wouldn't say so. Seems pretty small and buldings keep on repeating. Here's a shot:

http://cdn2.dualshockers.co...

On this screen every building model repeats around 4-5 times 4 different paper tree models (more like cut outs) . With this small city and all of the next gen ram etc I'd be expecting more diversity and unique models. In comparison DR3 is having a larger city, + every bulding is unique and you can enter almost all of them. Oh well...we'll see how it plays. The only game I've preordered on ps4 so far.

metatronx4064d ago (Edited 4064d ago )

uhm no, thats what Seattle looks like in certain neighborhoods. Since SP wanted to represent "Seattles" as best as possible, so of course the buildings will repeat 4-5 times...

DigitalRaptor4064d ago (Edited 4064d ago )

Hahahah, BallsEye. Are you THIS bored of Titanfall already?

Keep that downplaying going, it's highly amusing. I remember our little conversations, when you were trying to downplay the visuals of this game. Who ended up eating crow, eh? Is it tasty?

Let's take a look at your previous comments shall we? Let's explore the embarrassment:

- Was proven that there's no downgrade and you're still in denial: http://n4g.com/news/1473069...

- Follow up on your own statements: http://n4g.com/news/1412410...

- On pre-orders and Second Son not being a system seller. Well is that why it has far more pre-orders than Titanfall on Xbone, and hasn't even broken a million: http://n4g.com/news/1448795...

Yeah, more Second Son pre-orders than TLOU, in the UK. This game is going to perform very well and sell systems. I imagine you'll be putting your foot in mouth when the numbers come out next month.

- Still harping on that Ryse looks superior to any other next-gen game (then again, that was 18 days ago, so I'll pardon your ignorance): http://n4g.com/news/1468054...

- Calling Dead Rising 3 a "next-gen game": http://n4g.com/news/1468054...

- "Untill I see a good looking game on ps4 I dont believe anything that is said. MS showed awesome looking games": http://n4g.com/news/1338600...

What "awesome looking games" other than Ryse, which was beaten out by Killzone and now Second Son?

DigitalRaptor4064d ago (Edited 4064d ago )

I see you're also trying to downplay The Order. Talking about technology you have no idea about. And, when that game comes out, you'll have to stuff your mouth with more crow, along with the rest of the Xbot army. It's hilarious.

http://n4g.com/news/1459858...

- "Visuals do not impress": http://n4g.com/news/1447693...

--------

SMFH! Downplaying every single great-looking PS4 exclusive, and claiming to be neutral. You're an embarrassment.

Here's one more of your remarkable delusions to top off this post: http://n4g.com/news/1452943...

morganfell4064d ago (Edited 4064d ago )

DigitalRaptor,

When the infamous bundle was announced at Gamestop it went to number 1 and stayed there. Not even the Titanfall launch could budge it.

The PS4 just came back in stock at Amazon. Yet in 3 days it has sold more than any other item for the entire month of March so far. Think about it. Someone suggested on this site that most people bought the TF bundle in the days before launch and picked it up launch day and the days after. Well the numbers are not showing it. If they did it wasn't in sufficient enough numbers to topple Sony. And the PS4 is the number 1 seller at Walmart.

Now Second Son is climbing the ladders in all the preorder charts as well. PS4 gamers want this title and will be centrally responsible for the PS4 extending its lead in the US and Worldwide.

nerdman674064d ago

@DigitalRaptor Dude, you are taking things way too seriously.
This is all about Video Games, in the end none of it really matters. Relax and stop trying to prove youre right about everything. It is okay to be insecure, but you worry me

XtraTrstrL4064d ago

I knew it wouldn't be any GTA sized map with the level of detail and graphic fidelity of the whole game. It seems like just about enough for an inFAMOUS game.

LOGICWINS4064d ago

I'm actually really excited for this game after seeing the first 20 minutes. It makes you want to know what happens next. I'll buy it in two weeks to support Sucker Punch. I can't comment on the gameplay, but they clearly put a ton of care into the story/characters from what I can tell.

LOGICWINS4064d ago

Actually Im pre-ordering it today. Had no idea that Cole's Legacy stuff came free if u pre-ordered lol.

Donjune4064d ago

What's the legacy stuff if you don't mind?

Lunarassassin4064d ago

@Donjune
Coles legecy is a small set of missions that tell a bit of a story between infamous 2 and Second Son.
At the end of it you get an in game wearable Cole jacket

Strange_Evil4064d ago

The first 20 min of the game really drew me into it and I wish I had a PS4 to play this game(damn you college tuition!!). I loved Infamous 2 and I just loved the way the story was told and how the choices were handled. Although it wasn't perfect, it's one of my favorite open world game and this one looks so much better just going by the first 20 min video.

Hope you have fun. I know you won't be disappointed!

LOGICWINS4064d ago

Thanks! Much appreciated. I'm not watching any gameplay videos leading up to release. I want to be shocked by how good the game looks.

They really need to

Go off the evil ending off Second Son

Delsin absorbs all those powers

Revealed he’s the real Beast and John in Infamous 2 was just an anomaly created by timelines being messed with by Kessler.

Cole vs the Real Beast

gold_drake287d ago

quite honestly, i dont remember a whole lot about 2 amymore, but i absolutely hated the guy in second son haha.

chicken_in_the_corn286d ago

It would make more sense to go off the evil ending of 2 and the good ending g of SS where Cole is The Beast.

Cacabunga285d ago

Doesnt make any sense calling second son 2 as infamous 3..

OtterX286d ago

Ha, yea Delsin was obnoxious.

I wouldn't mind another new character, but somehow bring Cole into the story.

We can just pretend like Delsin never existed. :)

thejigisup286d ago

Everyone that age is obnoxious. It's been years and is like to think delsin has grown

neutralgamer1992286d ago

Until we wait for a potential new entry it would awesome to have infamous collection for PS5

RaidenBlack286d ago

Umm ... how about this?
First we get the Tushima sequel(coz its most rumored)
Then a new Resistance (need new PS SP FPS)
Then a totally new IP (new IPs are always interesting)
And then a new inFamous?

Pepsi_Man3000286d ago

resistance is insomniac I think

xHeavYx286d ago

Can we also get a complete remaster of InFamous 1 and 2?

fr0sty285d ago

Gimme a new Warhawk and MAG while we're at it.

DivineHand125286d ago

I had a great time with the second son. Never got to play the originals and hope they get remastered one day.

DazaMc286d ago

The graphics were amazing, I got the platinum on that one. Very good.

ChasterMies286d ago (Edited 286d ago )

If I had a choice between another Infamous game and another Spider-Man game, I choose Spider-Man. Sony should spend its resources on its winners.

Tacoboto286d ago (Edited 286d ago )

Infamous was such a winner its studio was given the freedom (after 3 titles + their expansions) to do a new IP with GoT, just like with Sly Cooper before infamous.

I'd welcome a 4th title even more than another Spider-Man, it'd be exciting what they could do with new powers fit for the hardware outside the limits of a licensed superhero game.

jznrpg286d ago

Spider-Man is guaranteed and is made by Insomniac so why not both as Sucker Punch would make Infamous.

How Does inFAMOUS Second Son Hold up 10 Years Later?

inFAMOUS Second Son was one of PS4's best exclusives, but does it hold up a decade later?

100%, locked 60fps and still look great all these years later, same with the expansion, definitely worth a look if people haven't played it yet, not the best games ever made but a good experience, hopefully a new infamous gets released

KwietStorm_BLM475d ago

Never was my favorite infamous, but it was definitely a graphics showcase early on PS4. Still plays well with the unlocked frame rate.

SDuck475d ago

Still remember getting hyped about this game nearing release. Funny because I never even got a PS4. Jumped from PS3 to PC so I never played it ahahaha

OmegaSoldati474d ago

Its a good game. But thats it. Congratulations you made the best choice. I dream to have a great PC one day.

jznrpg285d ago

@OmegaSoldati I’ve had a few of the highest end PC’s and they’re cool for about a year then they aren’t the highest end PC anymore and not as cool. It’s way overrated imo.

Profchaos475d ago (Edited 475d ago )

Graphically It's a absolutely stunning game that still holds up today.

Didn't have all that much depth to it forcing you to play though twice for a platinum trophy a good and bad run it was a little disappointing how similar those were Delsin would be like I'm not doing that for you in a cutscene but the cutscene would play out and force you to do it anyway just as you would of in a good run

I did like the story however it got a lot of complaints back in the day people hated playing as Delsin instead of cole despite Coles story being wrapped up.

Overall though the map wasn't overly saturated with useless points of interest there was some collectibles and things to find but nothing compared to a Ubisoft game.

I think it was a good game if a little hollow I've played it through around 4 times now since it's so short.

Also it's DLC was great a full story expansion
