Where Can the Master Sword Be Found in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom?

How to restore the Master Sword in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

To pull the sword out of the Light Dragon’s head, players will need two full stamina wheels.

Once the Master Sword is grabbed, the Light Dragon will take off, dragging Link along with it. Two full stamina wheels are needed to hold on, as Link will be thrown off the dragon mid-flight if he has any less. Once the Dragon has tired out and judged Link worthy, the player can claim the Master Sword.

Temporary stamina increases don’t count towards this threshold, meaning Link’s base stamina must be at least two wheels before a player should consider attempting this.

What Are the Benefits of the Master Sword in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom?

Beyond being Link’s iconic weapon along with the Hylian Shield, the Master Sword also provides two other bonuses.

When at full health, the R button can be pressed to fire a beam attack
The Master Sword degrades, but instead of breaking, simply becomes unusable for 10 minutes.

Given the annoyance many players feel due to the weapon degradation system in Tears of the Kingdom, it’s no surprise that a weapon that never breaks would be sought after. While it does take quite a bit of stat investment to get the sword, players generally agree that it’s worth the time spent acquiring. Given the positive reception the game is getting, players will more than likely be playing long enough to get the weapon anyway.
