Since the launch of Preseason of XDefiant, the players have unanimously asked for the addition of another game mode, Team Deathmatch. The developers were quiet about it for some time, but Mark Rubin, the Executive Producer, confirmed that TDM was in the works. Now, we know exactly when the XDefiant developers will release the new game mode.
Team Deathmatch Will Make the Game More Exciting for Some XDefiant Players
On June 18, the official XDefiant account on X shared the joyous news. The statement simply said: “What has two words, no objectives, and has been a frequent community request for many moons? Jump into Team Deathmatch this Friday, June 21st at 10 AM PT”.
Aside from the usual hype comments, it seems that the players actually really can’t wait for Team Deathmatch. One player, ibetonme, praised the developers: “Man I love how the XDefiant team moves fast to try & fix issues or add fun things to the game. Appreciate the effort”.
Others were happy that the players who don’t play the objective finally have a game mode for themselves. A fan, koala ko, said: “Thank god! A place for all my random teammates who don’t play objective“. Daniel Mason agreed: “Finally, now all the objective game modes will actually have players that want to play the objective”.
OrochiSciron shared their wishes for the new mode. They said: “Would be nice if TDM was “barebones”. So no special abilities or Ults, except grenades and throwables. Just pure gunfights would fit the game best. Of course they had to adjust phantoms health to 100, or everybody would use them”.
ImOnTheToiletP**pin said: “Personally, I have always preferred TDM over games like HotShot. Never liked having to ruin my flow by hunting down tags to win the game”. They added: “On a less competitive note, TDM is the best game mode for me to relax, lean back, and listen to YouTube as I play. As long as I keep a positive k/d, which is pretty easy to do, I’m doing my part”.
Will TDM Improve XDefiant and Which Game Mode Should Arrive Next
Many XDefiant players expressed concerns over the release of the new game mode. Oldenheart Ham said: “Massively slows down the game but for those who are new and those who are still struggling I’m sure this will be great for both groups! Everyone else will be playing objectives when you’re ready”.
Of course, a lot of players were practically insulted because TDM would arrive before another popular mode – S&D (Search and Destroy). Social media is riddled with fans requesting S&D to arrive as soon as possible. For all of you waiting for it, S&D will probably drop in time for Season 1.
Honestly, we adore diversity. We like to see as many game modes as possible, because depending on our mood, whether we want to play objectives or not, we like to still have a choice. Most players would probably agree. So, on June 21, try out the new TDM, even if it isn’t really your style in theory, maybe you’ll change your mind.
