The excitement is rising in the Valorant community over the announcement and release of the new map called Abyss. This will be the eleventh map in Valorant, and everyone is excited about the new edition and Patch 8.11 map rotation. So stay with us, and let’s go over everything we know about Valorant’s newest map – Abyss.

Valorant New Map – Abyss

Valorant’s newest map, Abyss, is the eleventh map to be added to the game map pool. The last map that was added to the game was Sunset, back in August 2023. From the start of Episode 8 Act 2 Riot Games has been teasing the new map through images on Player Cards. Finally, we have the confirmation on the map release date, and there are some speculations on the map location and the secretive organization that is involved.  

Abyss Release Date 

Abyss will be officially revealed at VCT Masters Shanghai on June 9, 2024, when a show match will be played on the new map. Moreover, Abyss will be part of the new map pool which is scheduled for release with Patch 8.11. The patch release will coincide with the ending of the VCT event on June 11, 2024.

Abyss Location 

Through Player Cards, Agent Dossiers, and Voicemail players can get some hints of the possible location of the new map. In the latest Voicemail Clove leaves for Brimstone, they refer their work with Cypher on the journal the mysterious organization, The Scions of Hourglass, tried to steal. In this Voicemail Clove mentions a secret cavern called Elder Grotto, which is the location of the Scions base. This information, along with art on some Player Cards, means that the new map will have an underground theme, with the potential of verticality being one of its key mechanics.    

The Scions of Hourglass

The Scions of Hourglass are a mysterious organization that has been subtly referenced in Valorant’s lore. Their logo can be seen on various Player Cards and is featured in cinematics and teasers. Before the incident with Viper, Omen used to work for this organization as their highly skilled and ruthless assassin. Another Valorant Agent connected to this organization is ISO, who used to work for them before defecting to Valorant Protocol.
