The first part of the Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet kicks off with Part 1: The Teal Mask. The first installment dropped on September 13, taking us to our new adventure in the land of Kitakami region, with many new shops and stalls and where Legendary Pokémon are honored during the annual Festival of Masks. To celebrate, you’re given a stellar new kimono to wear for the event. Although, you’ll probably want to change back into your standard uniform or a different style of kimono later on. Here’s how to change up your new look.

How to Change Your Kimono in The Teal Mask

The Teal Mask offers up a few new traditional outfits, kimonos or haori-like garb, in line with the Festival of Masks. To start, Kieran and Carmine’s family will give you a Green Festival Jinbei to wear. You’re free to keep this outfit for yourself and either continue to wear it throughout the DLC or change it. However, you’ll need to finish the main story of the expansion to unlock different kimono colors.

On your Nintendo Switch, press Left on your D-Pad to open your clothing menu and select the outfit you want to wear. Press the Plus (+) button when you’re done, then Yes to confirm.

How to Get More Kimonos in The Teal Mask

After you’ve caught Ogerpon and defeated Carmine one last time, you’ll reach the end of the plot. Following the To Be Continued screen, you’re free to explore the region on your own. At this point, you can head over to Kieran and Carmine’s home to pick up a few more kimonos to wear.

Speak with the trainers’ grandmother on the front steps. You’ll see an orange speech bubble, which generally indicates a special task or gift. The kind old woman will give you two more kimonos she found tucked away in storage. This includes the White/Gray and Deep Blue Festival Jinbei, much like the outfits worn by her grandchildren.

How to Change Out of Your Kimono in The Teal Mask

You can change out of your Festival Jinbei in the same way you’d normally change your outfit. Press Left on your D-Pad to open your clothing menu. You’ll then need to select which outfit you’d like to wear as well as which accessories you want to add. Unfortunately, each will need to be added one by one after you receive your Festival outfit from Kieran and Carmine.

Navigate to different accessory menus with your left joystick, and press the Plus (+) button when you’re ready to exit. Select Yes if you’re happy with your new look.
