Want to learn how to evolve Poltchageist into Sinistcha in the Teal Mask DLC for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet? Stick around for all the details about the Pokémon’s evolution items, forms, and more.

Poltchageist and Sinistcha are two new Pokémon introduced in the Teal Mask DLC for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. These Grass/Ghost-type monsters mirror the Gen 8 Pokémon, Sinistea and Polteageist, utilizing the similar evolution methods. As you adventure through the land of Kitakami, you’ll encounter two forms of Poltchageist: Counterfeit and Artisan. The former is much more common, though you may manage to catch the latter if you’re lucky. Even so, you’ll need specific items to evolve these Pokémon. Here’s what to do.

If you’re looking to evolve your Poltchageist into Sinistcha, you’ll need to give your Pokémon either the Unremarkable Teacup or the Masterpiece Teacup to trigger the transformation. Depending on your Pokémon’s form, you’ll need one of the two items. Specifically, Counterfeit Form Poltchageist will require the Unremarkable Teacup, while Artisan Form Poltchageist will need the Masterpiece Teacup.

There are no stat variations between these two forms, and the aesthetic differences are minimal. The only difference you’ll notice is a fancy seal on the underside of the Artisan form. Despite this, you can’t mix-and-match evolution items with these Pokémon. When you select either teacup item in your inventory, it will be specified whether the item is compatible with your Pokémon.

Upon evolution, Sinistcha will learn its signature move, Matcha Gotcha. This attack both inflicts damage and restores up to half of its user’s HP. What’s more, you may even leave your target with a burn, adding to the damage inflicted on your opponent. Sinistcha also boasts exceptional Special Attack and Defense, making it a great addition to any team.

Where to Find Poltchageist in The Teal Mask

Poltchageist appears in a few locations throughout Kitakami, highlighted on the above map. You can catch it as early as Reveler’s Road on your way to Kitakami Hall. This is where I caught my own Pokémon. Because it’s a ghost-type, the Matcha Pokémon only spawns at night. You should wait until sunset before you begin your search. I recommend using Dusk Balls, as this will increase the catch rate. Not to mention, this ball type matches Poltchageist’s color scheme.

How to Get the Unremarkable Teacup in The Teal Mask

You’ll find the Unremarkable Teacup inside a small cave in the Paradise Barrens. This is near the location of Okidogi, so you’ll be able to grab the item on your way to battle the Legendary Pokémon. Of course, you can always Fly back to pick it up later, as this will drop you just outside the cave.

How to Get the Masterpiece Teacup in The Teal Mask

The Masterpiece Teacup can be found in a small cave carved out from the mountainside in the Timeless Woods. There’s a sleepy Snorlax blocking the entrance, so you’ll need to battle the Pokémon before you can enter and snag the item. That said, I recommend catching this Pokémon while you have the chance. Otherwise, you’ll need to go through the process of evolving one of the many Munchlax roaming Kitakami.

Once you have everything you need, you can evolve your Poltchageist. With your new Sinistcha partner, you’ll be one step closer to completing your Kitakami Pokédex. Not to mention, you’ll have a fantastic new team member at your side as you challenge the BB League in Part 2: The Indigo Disk next year.
