What’s more, some previously introduced Pokémon have gained evolutions in the land of Kitakami. One such ‘mon is Applin, which can now evolve into the Grass/Dragon-type Pokémon, Dipplin. Similar to the Gen 8 monster’s other evolutions, Flapple and Appluetun, you’ll need a specific item to evolve it. Here’s how to get the job done.

- Only one code for a Hisuian Zoroark can be used in either the Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet game. Upon purchase of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC, an email with your code will be sent to the email address registered to your Nintendo Account. From the in-game menu, go to the Poké Portal, then select Mystery Gift, select Get with Code/Password, and then enter your code.
- The Mystery Gift option can be found within the Poké Portal menu option in the X menu after you unlock the feature in the Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet game. (This occurs after about 1 to 1.5 hours of gameplay, though individual gameplay time may vary.) An internet connection and a Nintendo Account is required to redeem the item in game. A Nintendo Switch Online membership is not required. Each item can only be redeemed once.
Where to Find Applin in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet: The Teal Mask DLC
In The Teal Mask, Applin only appears in a few locations, indicated on the above map. The best place to locate the apple Pokémon is in Apple Hills, which is accessible from Mossui Town. There, you can dash into trees to encounter the Pokémon throughout the orchards. You’ll also be able to find a Tera Applin in this area. I recommend catching this form, as Tera Pokémon often have great stats and beneficial Tera Types.
Applin can also be found throughout the Paldea region of both Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. The Pokémon appears in trees, so you’ll need Korairdon or Miraidon’s dash ability to knock the Pokémon down and battle them.
In either region, you can use sandwiches and other foods with Grass or Dragon Encounter Power to better your odds of finding wild Applin. You can evolve Applin into Dipplin with a Syrupy Apple in the Teal Mask DLC. The process remains the same as its counterparts, Appletun and Flapple. You’ll just need to give the item to Applin to trigger the evolution. Think of this mysterious apple as an evolution stone, which can be used to evolve certain Pokémon.
Moreover, Applin’s level won’t affect the process, so don’t sorry about gaining enough experience before evolving it. The only catch is that you’ll need to obtain both Applin and a Syrupy Apple before you can evolve your Pokémon.
Syrupy Apple Location in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet: The Teal Mask DLC
Unlike Sweet and Tart Apples, you can’t find Syrupy Apples laying around on the ground in The Teal Mask. Instead, you’ll need to head over to the Mossfell Confluence area to purchase a Syrupy Apple from a produce stand in the countryside for 500 Poké Dollars.
To make locating this spot a bit easier, open your map and set a destination point. Follow the tracker on your mini-map to reach the location in no time. The hut can be seen in the distance once you reach the area. There’s also a nearby NPC with a speech bubble, marking the spot.
