Since it was announced earlier this year, Pokémon fans have been looking forward to the two-part release of the Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Part 1: The Teal Mask finally launched on September 13, leading us to the new land of Kitakami. We were introduced to Kieran and Carmine, exchange students from Blueberry Academy. The duo is also set to appear in Part 2: The Indigo Disk, coming later this year. That said, the official release date for the second half of the DLC has finally been revealed.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet: The Indigo Disk Release Date

The Indigo Disk DLC for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet has received an official release date of December 14, 2023, as outlined by The Pokémon Company. This news follows rumors that the second installment might arrive later than expected on April 30, 2024. While this has since been debunked, speculation began when observant fans noticed the estimated release date listed under the Hidden Treasure of Area Zero expansion in the Nintendo eShop.

The official date falls within the original release window of Winter 2023. As such, any red flags raised have now been quelled with the announcement. Given that Part 1: The Teal Mask has received a massive amount of traffic with mostly positive feedback, fans remain excited to see what the second installment has in store. Let’s hope that Game Freak and Nintendo have worked to resolve any withstanding bugs for further optimization of the two-part DLC, as this would prove it’s worth the extra cost.

Where Does the Indigo Disk DLC Take Place?

Blueberry Academy is the setting for Part 2: The Indigo Disk DLC. On your adventure beyond the Paldea region and Kitakami, you’ll explore several new areas, like the Terarium. You’ll also reunite with both Kieran and Carmine along the way. Koraidon and Miraidon will even gain a new fly ability to help you traverse the terrain of each new biome.

Those who have begun playing Part 1: The Teal Mask have likely met Kieran and Carmine. Both are strong trainers and students at Blueberry Academy. If you’re just getting started in the DLC, be prepared to battle this dynamic duo. You’ll see a lot more of these characters in The Indigo Disk.

What is the Indigo Disk DLC About?

While you’re tasked with exploring the land of Kitakami and learning about the region’s folklore and Legendary Pokémon in the Teal Mask, much is still under wraps when it comes to the plot of the Indigo Disk. That said, you’ll meet a host of new characters during your time on the school trip. This includes BB League members, like Drayton and Lacey.

You’ll also encounter a long list of previously unavailable Pokémon in The Indigo Disk. In an August trailer for the expansion, it was revealed that you’ll have a chance to encounter starter Pokémon from every region. You’ll also meet new Pokémon, like Duraludon’s evolution, Archaludon, and the Legendary Pokémon Terapagos. Raging Bolt and Iron Crown will also appear in Tera Raids.

Purchase the Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC now to begin an all new Pokémon adventure as an exchange student from Naranja or Uva Academy.
