Want to learn how to make Draco meteor in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet? No problem. Keep reading for details about the process, including what you’ll need to make the TM and how to do it.
The Paldea region of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is home to a long list of Dragon-type Pokémon, including some fan-favorite monsters like Salamence, Garchomp, and Dragonite, as well as the box Legendaries, Koraidon and Miraidon. Since the early days of the franchise, Dragon-types have been renowned for their immense power and diverse move pools, capable of learning some of the strongest attacks in the world of Pokémon. Of these, the special move Draco Meteor is perhaps the strongest, with a base attack power of 130 and an accuracy rate of 90.
The downside: Draco Meteor can only be learned by single-use TM in Scarlet and Violet. Here’s how you can unlock the TM and gather the ingredients you’ll need to craft this powerful move in either game.
- Only one code for a Hisuian Zoroark can be used in either the Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet game. Upon purchase of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC, an email with your code will be sent to the email address registered to your Nintendo Account. From the in-game menu, go to the Poké Portal, then select Mystery Gift, select Get with Code/Password, and then enter your code.
- The Mystery Gift option can be found within the Poké Portal menu option in the X menu after you unlock the feature in the Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet game. (This occurs after about 1 to 1.5 hours of gameplay, though individual gameplay time may vary.) An internet connection and a Nintendo Account is required to redeem the item in game. A Nintendo Switch Online membership is not required. Each item can only be redeemed once.
How to Get TM 169 Draco Meteor in Scarlet and Violet
Draco Meteor can only be learned by giving your Pokémon its corresponding TM in Scarlet and Violet. Apart from a select few Pokémon found in Tera Raids, no monster can learn the Dragon-type move organically. This means you’ll need to get your hands on TM169 if you want to teach your Pokémon the most powerful Dragon-type move in the series, obtained in one of two ways.
- Craft the Draco Meteor TM.
- Complete the Starfall Street questline.
While you can easily craft TM169 (Draco Meteor) at a TM Machine with the necessary materials, you’ll first need to obtain the Dragon-type move as a reward for defeating Penny. Ultimately, this will round out the Starfall Street questline.
Defeating Penny
Once you’ve beaten every Team Star Base in Scarlet or Violet, you’ll be challenged to a battle by Cassiopeia. Of course, the character’s true identity is then revealed to be none other than your friend, Penny. Defeating your opponent will require taking down her team of Eevee’s evolutions, colloquially referred to as Eeveelutions. While intimidating, the task is simple enough, as a rounded team boasts the necessary type advantages. As your reward for winning, you’ll receive the TM for Draco Meteor when you talk to Penny in Mesagoza.
How to Make TM169 (Draco Meteor) in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
You can make the TM for Draco Meteor by using the TM Machine at Pokémon Center locations in Scarlet and Violet. With the following resources, you can craft the TM recipe.
- 14,000 LP (League Points)
- x8 Goomy Goo
- x5 Frigibax Scales
- x3 Applin Juice
Once crafted, the Draco Meteor TM will prove to be one of the best moves for Dragon-types to learn. The move can pack a serious punch in battle, making it one of the most sought-after by those who take on Tera Raids or play competitively.
While Draco Meteor is nearly lethal with a base power of 130, you’ll have to compensate for the loss of special attack once it’s used. This can be partly remedied with moves like Dragon Dance and an additional boost to your Pokémon’s critical hit ratio, achieved by raising its friendship. However, you’ll still need to monitor usage, as the move only has 5 PP.
