Looking for the best order for Gums, Bases, and Titans in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet? Stick around for a detailed rundown of Paldea’s Gym Leaders, Team Star Bosses, and Titan Pokémon.
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are the first mainline games in the Pokémon franchise to feature an open-world map, allowing us to take on each newly introduced Gym, Team Star Base, and Titan Pokémon in the order that we choose. When this was first revealed, it was huge news for long-time fans who had dearly missed the freedom we once had to choose our path to becoming the Champion. Without level scaling, however, there’s still an ideal order in which you’ll want to face each Gym, Base, and Titan in Scarlet and Violet. Here’s what we recommend.
- Only one code for a Hisuian Zoroark can be used in either the Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet game. Upon purchase of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC, an email with your code will be sent to the email address registered to your Nintendo Account. From the in-game menu, go to the Poké Portal, then select Mystery Gift, select Get with Code/Password, and then enter your code.
- The Mystery Gift option can be found within the Poké Portal menu option in the X menu after you unlock the feature in the Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet game. (This occurs after about 1 to 1.5 hours of gameplay, though individual gameplay time may vary.) An internet connection and a Nintendo Account is required to redeem the item in game. A Nintendo Switch Online membership is not required. Each item can only be redeemed once.
Best Order for Gyms in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
Gym Leader | Gym | Recommended Level |
---|---|---|
Katy | Cortondo Gym | Level 14 |
Brassius | Artazon Gym | Level 16 |
Iono | Levincia Gym | Level 23 |
Kofu | Cascarrafa Gym | Level 29 |
Larry | Medali Gym | Level 35 |
Ryme | Montenevera Gym | Level 41 |
Tulip | Alfornada Gym | Level 44 |
Grusha | Glaseado Gym | Level 47 |
While you may complete the Path to Victory Road in any order you choose, the lack of level scaling in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet encourages you to follow somewhat of a guided route when taking on each Gym Leader. There isn’t a huge jump in the average level of each Gym Leader’s team as you progress through either game, so challenging gyms out of order won’t pose too much of a challenge for those who elect to do so. Just bear in mind that some gyms are certainly tougher than others. This is the best gym order, and will be a natural progress of the game. It also gets good TMs.
Best Order for Team Star Bases in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
Team Star Boss | Base | Recommended Level |
---|---|---|
Giacomo | Segin Squad (Dark) | Level 21 |
Mela | Schedar Squad (Fire) | Level 27 |
Atticus | Navi Squad (Poison) | Level 32 |
Ortega | Ruchbach Squad (Fairy) | Level 50 |
Eri | Caph Squad (Fighting) | Level 55 |
If you’re anything like me, then you probably stumbled upon Mela’s base before any of the other Team Star Bosses in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. I very quickly realized I made a big mistake, but managed to take out the Fire-type base nevertheless. Luckily, every boss has a Revavroom on their team, so if you come prepared to take it down, you’ve essentially secured victory. Lucario was the MVP of my own team when it came to taking out Starmobiles.
The biggest challenge that Team Star presents is the prerequisite of successfully infiltrating each base before challenging its respective boss. For this reason, make sure you have at least three Pokémon that can tackle or, at the very least, withstand the attacks of the Pokémon inside before entering.
Best Order for Titan Pokémon in Scarlet and Violet
Titan Pokémon | Title | Recommended Level |
---|---|---|
Klawf | The Stony Cliff Titan | Level 16-18 |
Bombirdier | The Open Sky Titan | Level 20-22 |
Orthworm | The Lurking Steel Titan | Level 29-31 |
Great Tusk (Scarlet) or Iron Treads (Violet) | The Quaking Earth Titan | Level 45-47 |
Dondozo and Tatsugiri | The False Dragon Titan | Level 56-60 |
When you pursue the Path of Legends alongside Arven in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, you’ll meet a handful of the newly introduced Pokémon of the Paldea region, referred to as Titan Pokémon. Each is significantly stronger than other Pokémon of their species, so the key to defeating each one is coming prepared with a team that’s slightly more powerful than the Titan you’re facing. You’ll also receive a good amount of help from Arven when you battle each Titan Pokémon, so don’t worry too much if you mix up the order.
