With the upcoming release of Modern Warfare 3, franchise fans are now wondering: Will CoD points transfer from MW2 to MW3? We have your answer here.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is set to launch on November 10, 2023, across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. It follows up on 2022’s Modern Warfare II, continuing the storyline and expanding new mechanics. Fans of the franchise and the previous installment are gearing up for the new release with high hopes. That said, many players share concerns regarding the potential loss of the progress they’ve made in MW2, namely their items, skins, and CoD points. Fortunately, your hard-earned inventory isn’t on the chopping block.

Will CoD Points Transfer From MW2 to MWIII?
CoD points serve as an in-game currency, which will carry forward from Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 to MW3 if you’re planning to play the new entry. This also applies to the items you’ve purchased, from weapon and operator skins to blueprints.
However, there’s just one stipulation here: You must continue playing on the same console, on the same Activision Account, to keep your points and items in Modern Warfare III. Game progression, CoD points, and purchases you made with them aren’t transferrable from one entry to the next if you’re switching to a different platform, from Xbox One to PS5, for example. Because of this, you’ll want to make the switch using the same console.
Do You Need to Start Over in MW3?
If you’ve made progress in Activision’s other titles, MW2 and Warzone, then you won’t need to start from square one in MW3. As long as you’re playing the new entry on the same system or console, all of your CoD points and cosmetic content and items purchased with it will transfer from one game to the next. In the long run, this will save you both time and money, especially if you’ve invested in battle passes. But, if you upgrade your game console, the game treats that as two different users and you’ll have to start from scratch. So if you would like to upgrade to the next console generation, bear that in mind before proceeding.
