Will The Hylian Shield Appear In Tears Of The Kingdom

All 3 trailers of the game so far seem to lack Link wearing the iconic Hylian Shield on his back. Therefore, at this time we cannot say for sure whether the Hylian Shield will return in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Instead, Link is seen donning a much different shield on his back, one with a simple white design and distinct symbols belonging to the Sheikah tribe. This seems to be hinting toward the continued relevance of the Shiekah and their artifacts in the yet-to-be-released title, though it could just be a common shield that Link picks up when starting this next journey.

However, we do know that finding the Hylian Shield in Breath of the Wild required players to venture deep within the depths of Hyrule Castle, so it’s possible that players will need to face a lot of adversity before being able to unlock this new shield in Tears of the Kingdom as well.

Perhaps the story for Tears of the Kingdom features even more involvement by the elusive Sheikah tribe than Breath of the Wild did. Alternatively, this specific shield could be weaponry passed down from Link’s friend Impa, who many fans speculate may pass away in this upcoming game. Whatever the case, only time (or another Nintendo Direct) will tell.
