Each mainline Final Fantasy title has been wildly different over the past decade between how it can be played and where it can be played on. This guide will help players answer the question if the game can be played and carry saved progress across different platforms.

Is Final Fantasy XVI Cross Platform?

Final Fantasy 16 does not support cross platform multiplayer. That means players will not be able to play the game with other people who are playing on different platforms.

The simple reason for the missing feature is that Final Fantasy 16 does not support multiplayer at all. The latest entry in the long-running franchise is a single-player title with no cooperative or competitive multiplayer modes. Previous games in the series have included multiplayer, though that was not a focus for the new game.

Will Final Fantasy XVI Have Cross Progression?

Final Fantasy 16 will also not support cross progression. Also known as cross save, this feature would allow players to easily transfer their progress from one platform to another without losing where they are within the game. For example, a player could start a game on PC, quit the game, and then resume their progress on a PlayStation or Xbox console if it is supported.

The game does not contain cross progression because it is only available on the PS5 at launch. There is no progress to transfer if the game is not playable on multiple platforms. It is possible that the game could be coming to the PC sometime in the future, but it currently unknown if it will support this feature with the PS5 version.
