Sometimes it takes a while for players to focus on the positives rather than the negatives. The Escalation of Freedom update disappointed many players and the latest patch managed to create an even bigger backlash. Pilestedt, the CCO, tried to do some damage control on August 22, which seems to have worked, as the Helldivers 2 players are finally feeling heard and sharing what they like about the time, like the buff of one particular weapon.
One Weapon Blew Away a Behemoth Charger
Well, you might have guessed it, the weapon in question is the Quasar Cannon. One devoted Helldiver took to Reddit to share their appreciation. THE_Best_Major noted: “Everyone is talking about the flamethrower nerf but no one is talking about the Quasar Cannon buff. It really is still a thing of beauty”.
This player proceeded to share a video of their gameplay. The video shows a valiant Helldiver facing a Behemoth Charger. You can see the Behemoth Charger, well, charging toward the player who, at the last moment, fires the Quasar Cannon, blowing away the enemy. The unfortunate Charger is seen practically helicoptering away in the sky.
Fellow Helldivers were impressed, to say the least. They immediately started raving about this fantastic accomplishment. Echomusingdragon5377 said: “Oh man that was both cathartic and beautiful. Seeing democracy finest at work puts a smile on my face”.
Helldivers Think the Cause Was a Bug, Not the Buff
Now, we’re no physicists, so we can’t grasp how this was even possible. The majority of Helldivers 2 players were just as astonished by the way this weapon worked, even though they knew it had received a buff.
Darth_Mak suggested: “Quirk of Terminid biology. Their leg muscles behave similarly to loaded springs and sometimes “release” upon death. The longer and more powerful the legs, the stronger the reaction”. Of course, many pointed out that it was the bugged bug, not the weapon. Tinkomut stated: “The moment I saw a Charger in the video, I knew some f**kery was gonna go down. Why are bugs so buggy”?
Another player added: “Exactly, bugs are pure chaos. When you kill the Bile Titan is it going to: die in its proper death animation, ragdoll like crazy, killing bug and Helldiver alike, or freeze frame in its standing animation and cause other divers to waste ammo into it as it slowly sinks into the earth after a minute or 2. There are no wrong answers”.
We’ll never know for sure whether the buffed Quasar or the bugged Terminid was the cause of this masterpiece of videography. The result was probably due to the mix of the two. Imagine if the player was able to upgrade the weapon, how high would the Behemoth fly then? We hope to learn someday, in the meantime, hold onto your buffed Quasar Cannons and enjoy the game.
