Wondering if Helldivers 2 has mods? We have your answer here. Stick around for details about mod support following the game’s launch.

Helldivers 2 officially launched across PlayStation consoles and PC on February 8, quickly becoming one of the most popular games of the year thus far. In its first week, the title from Arrowhead Game Studios and Sony Interactive managed to beat out Palworld for the top spot on Steam charts. The massive response to the game overwhelmed servers and the team at Arrowhead, prompting devs to implement fixes. This has also called into question whether the game supports mods and user-generated content to better your gameplay experience. Are there mods for Helldivers 2? Unfortunately, support is unlikely.

  • Enlist in the Helldivers and join the fight for freedom across a hostile galaxy in a fast, frantic, and ferocious third-person shooter.
  • Become a Legend – You will be assembled into squads of up to four Helldivers and assigned strategic missions. Watch each other’s back – friendly fire is an unfortunate certainty of war, but victory without teamwork is impossible.
  • Loadouts – Rain down freedom from above, sneak through enemy territory, or grit your teeth and charge head-first into the jaws of combat. How you deliver liberty is your choice; you’ll have access to a wide array of explosive firepower, life-saving armour and battle-changing stratagems… the jewel in every Helldiver’s arsenal.
  • Requisition – Super Earth recognises your hard work with valuable Requisition. Use it to access different rewards that benefit you, your squad, your destroyer ship and our overall war effort.
  • Threats – Everything on every planet wants you dead. That’s what we’re dealing with. Each enemy has distinct and unpredictable characteristics, tactics, and behaviour – but they all fight ferociously and without fear or morality.

Does Helldivers 2 Support Mods?

At the time of writing, Helldivers 2 does not support mods or user-generated content. Without word from developer Arrowhead or publisher Sony, there’s no indication that the wildly successful sci-fi shooter will receive support down the line. While the news is sure to disappoint PC players, it doesn’t come as a surprise, considering the original Helldivers didn’t have mods, either.

Devs are currently working to enhance every player’s gameplay experience in light of server outages and other errors at launch. The latest patches have fixed several recurring problems, resolving matchmaking errors and crashes, and improving overall gameplay quality. Even so, it seems unlikely that we’ll see mod support implemented in the future.

Why Helldivers 2 Likely Won’t Support Mods

Helldivers 2 was released on PlayStation consoles and PC earlier this month, skyrocketing to the top of Steam charts and beating out top performers. The response to the game not only overwhelmed servers, but also the development team at Arrowhead, who are now searching for new hires to meet the game’s demand. That said, devs certainly have their hands full, and the addition of mod support seems a far-off feat.

What’s more, support may not be possible given the game’s anti-cheat software, nProtect GameGuard, essentially acts as a wall against it. Since the launch of Helldivers 2, PC gamers haven’t shied away from voicing their concerns with the kernel-level software. Several widespread errors related to the software have affected the player base, which doesn’t bode well for its potential relationship with mods. Realistically, it wouldn’t play well with user-generated content, as the anti-cheat software combats changes made to files and codes.

With this in mind, it looks like PC players aren’t willing to take any risks, either. Currently, no mods have been created by fans of Helldivers 2. Without motivation or demand, mod support is unlikely to arrive in the future.
