It’s finally happening! The previous major patch dropped on June 13, and the community has been craving for a bigger update ever since. Over the last month or so, dedicated players repeatedly asked for fixes and new content. They never gave up on the game even though some took a break due to burnout. Well, the wait is almost over for the amazing Helldivers 2 community as the developers made an announcement of a massive update.
This Announcement Left Many Helldivers Speechless
On July 23, the official Helldivers 2 account on X shared some very exciting news. The announcement read: “Do you have what it takes, Helldiver? The Escalation of Freedom Major Update begins on August 6, featuring: Difficulty Level 10. New mission objectives. Bigger enemy outposts. New Bugs and Bots. New environmental hazards”.
Alongside this announcement, the creators shared a YouTube video featuring the devs talking about the Escalation of Freedom, as well as the first looks at some of the new features. At the end of the video, Johan Pilestedt, the CCO of Arrowhead, stated: “We have many more surprises in store for you. On August 6, I’m ready to dive, and I hope you are, too”.
Helldivers 2 Players Have Massive Expectations For the Escalation of Freedom
We are sure all the Helldivers 2 players were completely smitten by this massive update announcement. The first reactions were overwhelmingly positive with players saying they couldn’t wait until August 6. The community dissected the trailer and went wild over all of the amazing additions.
Brilliant_Decision52 stated: “Rocket Tank and f**king Rocket Scout Striders. God save us if they don’t fix the annoying ragdoll s**t lol”. RoninOni added: “Notably… the pilot is covered… so a couple of quick Plasma Punisher shots won’t just knock out the pilot, or a flank with even a basic pistol. It’s going to require heavier munitions to take down”.
MrDavidHasselhoof said the one thing that was on everyone’s mind. They noted: “Looks fantastic but I think Super Earth is gonna have to hook us up with some extra firepower”. It’s possible that a new Warbond will be added with this update. Rumor has it that the next Warbond will be scorching hot.
We’d also like to take this opportunity to mention one great QoL change which might not sound as sparkly as everything else but will have a huge impact in the long run. According to the Helldivers 2 blog post, the players who were kicked from the mission will get the reward as well. This will, hopefully, prevent unnecessary kicking in the future.
Truth be told, August 6 can’t come soon enough. We love all of these additions, but we are mostly looking forward to all of the unannounced details. In our opinion, those are always the greatest part of an update. The Escalation of Freedom won’t drop for a while, so we suggest you join your fellow soldiers and tackle the Major Order while there are still some bugs left. For Super Earth.
