While it would be nice if games ran well 100% of the time, this isn’t always the case. Especially with larger titles, bugs and error codes are bound to appear, though the developers are usually quick to patch the bugs or offer fixes. Such is the case with Genshin Impact which can suffer from Error Code 9203.

While the game usually runs without issue, there can be problems that creep up between the myriad versions it has. A common error, especially for PC players, is code 9203, a failed to download resource files or network error code. This guide will run through some potential fixes to the issue so that Genshin Impact players can spend more time playing rather than troubleshooting.

How to Fix Genshin Impact Error Code 9203

The potential fixes are listed below. Trying them in this order is recommended, as they range from simplest to most intensive.

Restarting the Console

  • Restart your console
  • Reload Genshin Impact

The simplest answer is often the correct one, and that is the case here. A simple reset is all that is needed to get past this error code for most players.

Disabling Antivirus

  • Disable your antivirus
  • Restart the Genshin Impact launcher

If resetting the game and your console does not work, disabling any running antivirus software is the next step. Some may feel wary of disabling their antivirus, but it has been reported to work in many cases. It may be worth it for a player to go into their antivirus settings to make sure that Genshin Impact is given all the permissions it needs to function.

CMD Fix

  • Exit the Genshin Impact launcher
  • Go into CMD
  • Type the following:
    • sc stop mhyprot2
    • sc delete mhyprot2

The final fix is only for PC but has given some players an answer when all else has failed. By typing these two lines into the CMD, it forces Genshin Impact to delete a small number of downloadable files. When the launcher is restarted, players will download about 85 MB of data. The game worked for these players after this download.

Simply restarting the game should be the answer for most players, so don’t be too concerned if you see this error message. The developers may find answers to these issues in the future as well, so don’t be surprised if a future patch erases this problem.
