Leaks from a reputable source revealed that the next collab we’re going to have in Fortnite is with the Avatar: The Last Airbender. On February 25, 2024, iFireMoneky posted on X (formerly Twitter) that a Fortnite x Avatar: The Last Airbender will be having a collab.
Avatar: The Last Airbender is a popular TV series, running from 2005 to 2008, created by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko and produced by Nickelodeon Animation Studio. It was highly praised by critics and has gained a cult following, so it was just a matter of time until Fortnite and Avatar collaborated. This is probably further influenced by the recent release of Avatar: The Last Airbender Netflix series, a live-action adaptation of the beloved cartoon.
Fortnite’s rumored collab with Avatar: The Last Airbender
If the rumors are true, the upcoming collab will be in the form of a Mid-Season Event Pass. If you collect all 6 Books, by completing quests, you’ll get the Appa Glider. Aang Fortnite Outfit and Aang LEGO Style will allegedly be free to grab. Remember that these are all rumors and speculations, for the time being.
Fortnite Community’s Not-So-Great Reception
Following the information provided by iFireMonkey, the community has mixed reactions. While everyone loves Avatar, not everyone is too keen on having Avatar Aang, a known pacifist, running around shooting people with guns. One Redditor ironically stated: “That’s what I wanted. The Avatar shooting with guns.” Redditor camelkong agreed with the previous statement, adding: “…the idea of Aang killing people with guns makes me a little insane.”
Some fans claim that this collab isn’t happening, but others point towards these files already being in Fortnite’s code, with Shiina, another popular Fortnite creator and leaker, saying: “You can see it for yourself in the game’s API here. Put it in some JSON Formatter and then search for some keyword like “Appa” or “Aang” and you can see everything related to the collaboration “
But not everything is bleak. Some fans are thrilled with the prospect of ATLA skins coming to Fortnite. Notyouraveragegeorge stated: “OMG this will prob be the first time I will literally buy everything from a collab.” Others find this ridiculous, but in a positive way, with joewootty saying: “Now imma be getting clipped by Aang that’s crazy, imma be buying this for sure” and death_lad adding: “Aang gonna be sending people straight to the spirit realm lol.”
Conclusion
It seems to be quite a mixed bag for a Fortnite x Avatar: The Last Airbender collaboration, but time will tell how this will play out. With the recent release of the Avatar Netflix show, it is reasonable that Epic Games would want to ride that popularity wave.
