Starting a new game is a little more complicated than you’d expect. Read on to see how to start a new save in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

Dragon’s Dogma 2: How to Start a New Save

Unfortunately, there is not a simple way of starting a new game. First of all, the game does not have multiple game slots. And, more surprisingly, there is not an option to delete your progress and start a new game. You have to dig deeper if you want to start over. The methods depend on the platform that you are using, but they all follow the same principle: you have to manually delete the save files.

How to Start a New Save on PC

For PC, you have to look for and delete the old save files, so the game can start a new one. But, Cloud Saves has to be turned off before that, so the game cannot save your progress anywhere else.

  • First, open your Steam library, right-click on Dragon’s Dogma 2, select “Properties” and in the “General” tab turn “Cloud Saves” off.
  • Then, using the File Explorer, go to “C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\[your Steam ID]\2054970”. The last number is the ID for Dragon’s Dogma 2.
  • Delete all the files in that folder, and that should erase everything related to your previous game.
  • Start a new game in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

Remember to turn Cloud Saves back on.

How to Start a New Save on Xbox

On Xbox, you also have to prevent the game from saving your progress online, and the rest is pretty much similar.

  • In “Settings > General > Network Settings” select the “Go Offline” mode.
  • Select Dragon’s Dogma 2 and open the options menu.
  • Select “Manage game and add-ons”, then “Saved data”, and choose “Delete All”.
  • Start a new game of Dragon’s Dogma 2 and save it.
  • Close the game, turn Online mode back on, and boot up the game again.
  • The console will ask you to choose between saved data from “This Console” or “The Xbox network (cloud data)”. Select “This Console”.
  • Enjoy your new game.

How to Start a New Save on PlayStation

PS5 users follow similar methods, ie, you have to disable online syncing, delete the save files, and start all over again.

  • From the PlayStation home screen select Settings.
  • Scroll down to “Saved Data and Game/App Settings”, select “Saved Data (PS5)”, and finally press “Sync Saved Data”.
  • Switch “Auto-Sync Saved Data” to “Disabled”.
  • Return to the Settings menu, select “Storage”, then “Console Storage”, and finally select “Save Data”.
  • Click “PS5 Games”, then ‘Dragon’s Dogma 2’, and select “Delete”.
  • Start a new game in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

Also, remember to turn Auto-Sync back on, if you want to.

Hopefully, Capcom will make this process easier with some future updates. For more on DD2, check out How to Level Up, How to Change Appearance, and Official Pawns List.
