Most CS2 cases contain skins of five different rarity values. The probability of getting high-value items is as follows:
- Rare – Mil-Spec (blue) 79.92%
- Mythical – Restricted (purple) 15.98%
- Legendary – classified (pink) 3.2%
- Ancient – covert (red) 0.64%
- Exceedingly Rear Special (gold) 0.26%

There are two ways you can get Cases in CS2. You can get a case for free by simply playing the game. This means that every time you rank up your account for the first time during the week you will receive a Case as a potential reward. Keep in mind that the Case you receive this way will be 99% from an active drop pool. At this time, the active drop pool contains the Revolution Case, Recoil Case, Dream & Nightmare Case, Snakebite Case, and Fracture Case. Alternatively to this, there is a 1% chance you will get a rare Case drop.
Another way of gating Cases in CS2 is to simply buy them from the Market. This can be done through the official Steam Market or you can use third-party trading websites. Third-party websites might offer better deals, but the Steam Market is a more reliable way to purchase Cases.
