How to Play 1v1 in CS2

There are two ways you can play 1v1 mode in CS2 currently. Firstly, there are community servers that offer this option. Secondly, you can create a 1v1 map in CS2 this is a better option if you want to play duels only with a friend. Let’s take a look at how to join or create 1v1 Duels servers in CS2.

Join the Community Servers

Currently, the best selection of 1v1 game modes CS2 community servers is on the Cybershoke website under the Duels category. There you have a list of all available servers, with latency, player count, and everything listed for you to choose from. To join a Duel Map you can simply press the Join button while on the site. You can also find a Copy option, so you can save the address of the map and use it to join the map directly from CS2.

To do this you will have to have the console option enabled, then press “`” to open the console, Paste the copied address, and press Enter. If you are doing this for the first time, CS2 will ask you if you want to download the map. Alternatively, here is a short guide on how to join community servers in CS2:

  • Launch CS2 on Steam.
  • Click on the “Play” button located at the top of the screen.
  • Then select the Globe looking icon located next to “Practice”.
  • Click the “Internet” tab on the left.

Create the 1v1 Arena Server

Before we start, keep in mind that the process of creating a 1v1 private server is not complicated, but you will need to use your IP address for this. So only play using this option with players you trust. Also, your console will have to be enabled to do this.

Press the tilde “`” kay to start the console and type map X (X is the name of the map you would like to use for example map de_inferno or de_mirage_vanity). This will create a map filled with bots, and you will have to get rid of them. For this use console commands for Bots. Now that you are alone on the map your friend will have to use their console and type connect xxx.xxx.xx.xxx (where x’s are replaced with your IP address). After that, you can use other console commands to modify the game to your liking. However, ultimately, the newly created map will only have two players on it, making it ready for 1v1 CS2 action.
