Since the release of the full game in March, the remake of Resident Evil 4 has captured and maintained the approval of long-time franchise fans. This is due to the fact that CAPCAM stayed true to the original game’s integrity, making improvements only where they were necessary.
While many have remained excited to see what’s changed in the highly anticipated remake, others have dreaded returning character deaths.
This begs the question: Can you save Luis in Resident Evil 4? Let’s cover what we know.
Can Luis Be Saved in Resident Evil IV Remake?
In short, no, Luis cannot be saved in the Resident Evil 4 remake.
While tragic, Luis’ death is inevitable following an unexpected attack by Major Krauser, one of the in-game bosses. This deviates a great deal from the plot point in the original Resident Evil 4, wherein Luis is brutally murdered by Saddler. Although, both death scenes result in the enemy’s retrieval of the strain sample.
This change in the plot has lent some players a bit of hope that there may be a way to save Luis, after all. However, there is no known way to do so, maintaining the integrity of the character’s necessary sacrifice in both the original and its remake.

Can You Kill Luis in Resident Evil IV Remake?
While the character’s death is inevitable, no, you cannot kill Luis yourself in Resident Evil 4 Remake.
The character is universally well-liked by franchise fans, but some have grown curious as to whether Luis can actually be harmed by playable characters in the years since the release of the original game in 2005.
Players have taken to game forums, reporting that Luis will retaliate if attacked in the original Resident Evil 4. However, this has not yet been corroborated by fans of the remake.
Fortunately, CAPCOM managed to keep the storyline of Resident Evil 4 fresh while reinstating much of what players have come to expect from the franchise in the game’s 2023 remake. This has left room for fans to root for their favorite characters in new ways.
