The Grymforge in Baldur’s Gate 3 is a giant underground area that encompasses the ruins of a fortress and an ancient forge. Players can explore a large part of the ruined area, but it’s not exactly easy to get there. This guide will show players the necessary steps to travel to Grymforge in Baldur’s Gate 3.
How To Travel to Grymforge in Baldur’s Gate 3
The Grymforge is located within the Underdark, an Act 1 subterranean area beneath the overworld. There are four entrances in the Wilderness area that players can take to get into the Underdark:
- Auntie Ethel’s Teahouse
- The Defiled Temple
- The Whispering Depths
- Zhentarim Hideout
Players will have to travel to the Underdark Beach, which is located near the center of the map. After defeating the Duergar ambush for the nearby Myconids, you will notice the decrepit village and nearby docks. There is a boat moored at one of the docks, near the waypoint, which you can interact with to cross the lake.

The Underdark Duergar Boat will take players to the Grymforge, but the first trip will be intercepted by Corsair Greymon and other duergar. Players can either fool him, intimidate him, or push him off the boat with specific stat checks to avoid a fight.
After the encounter, the party will arrive at the Grymforge, where Morghal will ask for a 100 gold “donation” before entering. You don’t have to pay, but can instead use skill checks once again to avoid any conflict. With that out of the way, you’ll be free to explore Grymforge at your leisure. However, you will learn early on that you should look for True Soul Nere once you arrive.
