Baldur’s Gate 3 How to Get Into Tiefling Hideout and What’s Inside

Have you been looking to join Baldur’s Gate’s most notorious criminal gang and gain access to the Tiefling hideout in the Druid Grove? Okay, it may not be the most notorious but Mol and the merry band of thieves are good allies to have once you enter Act 3 and the city of Baldur’s Gate proper.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is all about realism, and there’s no realism in a story without the main character getting mugged. As you roam around towns, completing quests and interacting with new people, there are some NPCs out to steal your loot. You need to be especially careful of Tieflings, both young and old. Throughout the story, you’ll have various items stolen from you by Tieflings, but if you’re out to get them back, we’ll help you get inside the Tiefling Hideout.

How to Get Into the Tiefling Hideout in BG3

If you want to get into the Tiefling Hideout to find your belongings, then follow these steps:

1. Locate the Tiefling trader, Mattis, in the Druid’s Grove just before you descend the stairs to Kahga. 
2. There are two choices here either talk to Mattis before you intersect with Kahga or after, if after and you made the choices to save Arabella, the tiefling child, this will grant you approval from Mattis and Mol.
3. Behind this NPC, there’s a ladder, descend this. Using a Druid character to wildshape or a smaller-sized race, sneak into the Rocky Hole. 
4. Use the password you acquired from the Tiefling boy Mirkon (who you saved from the Harpies in the Secluded Cove, in the Investigate the Beach quest) to get through the Concealed Hatch. 
5. Once through, you’re inside the Tiefling Hideout.

Inside the Tiefling thieves’ hideout, you’ll find all sorts of different loot and stolen treasure. What you choose to do with it is up to you but there are some things you should know before you head down this road. While you must be eager to get your things back, one wrong action could land you in deep trouble.

Where is Tiefling Hideout’s Location

The Tiefling Hideout is located in Druid’s Grove. Once you enter Druid Grove, only then will you start encountering Tiefling refugees. Most people fall for the Tiefling kid who will attempt to sell you a ring but will actually get you mugged, taking away your belongings. However, it is important not to choose the violent reactions to this encounter because then you will not be able to enter the hideout.

When you reach Rocky Crevice, a quick Perception check can also help locate the Concealed Hatch without having to talk to the Tiefling in front of the hideout hatch, Doni.

How to Get the Password for the Concealed Hatch

If you don’t have the password for the Concealed Hatch, it means you probably haven’t completed the ‘Investigate the Beach’ quest. Completing this quest rewards you with the password to get through the Concealed Hatch.

Alternatively, you can also speak with Doni. If you’ve saved Arabella inside the Emerald Grove, he might let you in without needing a password as a thank you for looking after the children.

Remember to use the character with the best Charisma trait, and Proficient in social skills, like Insight and Persuasion.

What is Inside the Tiefling Hideout

Once you’re inside the Tiefling Hideout, you can interact with the leader of the Tiefling’s Thieves Guild, Mol. They will request you to steal the Sacred Idol in exchange for the Ring of Protection, something that will be useful later on in the game. However, you can also keep the Sacred Idol to receive Silvanus’ Blessing.

Choosing to steal the Idol will put you in a bad standing with the druids and you will need someone with high dexterity/sleight of hand to complete this task such as Astarion.

You can also choose to steal other items lying around in the hideout. But be wary of other Tieflings nearby. If they spot you stealing their stuff, they’ll run away. If you donate some money to Thieves Guild or ask about their backstory, this may open up other options with the Tiefling pickpockets and keep you on good terms with them.

Remember if you enter the hideout on bad terms with the Tieflings, they will flee with your belongings, making your venture useless. So try to go easy on the Tiefling child who pickpockets you at the start.

If everything goes without escalating into violence, you will meet Mol in other Acts of the game.
