Trying to figure out how to get log stakes in Animal Crossing: New Horizons? You’re not alone. We’ll cover where you can find the crafting recipe for this item and the materials you’ll need.

On your Animal Crossing: New Horizons playthrough, you’ll collect a wide variety of resources, crafting recipes, and items. By harvesting materials, you can use what you have to craft all-new furniture pieces and more. Some of these items aren’t even sold at Nook’s Cranny, making them especially valuable. Log stakes fall under this category, requiring the associated crafting recipe in order to obtain them. Players have found seriously creative ways to use these items on their island, so you’ll definitely want to pocket the recipe. But how do you do it? Here’s how to get log stakes in New Horizons.

In New Horizons, log stakes are just one of many items that can’t be found at Nook’s Cranny. Instead, you’ll need to craft some yourself. Fortunately, there are a couple of ways to obtain the necessary crafting recipe:

  1. Find the recipe in a message bottle on the beach.
  2. Get the recipe from one of your villagers.

Picking Up Message Bottles

From the start of your playthrough, you’ll find a message bottle sitting somewhere on the beach every day. These contain crafting recipes that you can use to build furniture and other items. However, the recipe inside is totally random, so it’s easy to wind up with duplicates or go without finding specific recipes as time goes on. It took me forever to find one for a wooden mirror, for instance.

That being said, you should take the time to pick up these bottles anytime you see them. This is a great way to get new furniture items free of charge, especially early on. Not to mention many recipes can be used to craft items that aren’t sold at Nook’s Cranny, such as log stakes.

Sharing Recipes with Villagers

Sometimes, you’ll find your island’s villagers in the middle of a crafting project when you go inside their house. If you speak with them while they’re hard at work, they’ll be more than willing to share the recipe they’re working on, even if you already have it. This is another reliable means to obtain new crafting recipes early on. In fact, I got my recipe for log stakes from one of my residents.

Log stakes are among the simplest items to craft in New Horizons. Once you have the recipe on hand, you can head over to the nearest workbench to get started. To craft the item, you’ll just need the following materials:

  • x3 Wood

All kinds of wood can be harvested by hitting trees with an axe, so you’ll have no problem collecting enough materials for the project. Of course, if you’re like me, you may not want to chop down your town’s trees altogether. To avoid doing this, use a flimsy axe to collect resources. This tool isn’t strong enough to destroy the trunk, so using it is a great way to get resources without losing native trees.
