Want to learn how to get a ladder in Animal Crossing: New Horizons? Stick around. We’ll cover where you can get the crafting recipe for this item and the materials you’ll need for the job.
When you’re just starting out in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, it can be tough to get around your island without necessary tools, like a ladder. You’ll need one of these tools to climb up to higher places, where villagers and resources are likely waiting. Luckily, you can craft this item on your own from very early on in your playthrough — but you’ll need to get your hands on the crafting recipe and the required materials first. Here’s how you can get a ladder in New Horizons, including how to get the recipe and what you’ll need to craft one.
- Animal Crossing-themed Near Field Communication (NFC) capable amiibo trading cards
- that work with both Wii U and Handheld Nintendo games.
- By tapping the amiibo over your Wii U GamePad, you’ll open up new experiences within each corresponding game.
How to Get a Ladder in Animal Crossing: New Horizons
You can get a ladder early on in your Animal Crossing: New Horizons playthrough by purchasing its crafting recipe. With the remodeled Nook’s Cranny up and running, just head over to the cabinet inside and browse their wares. You’ll find a Ladder Recipe for sale for 500 Bells. Once you have the recipe in your back pocket, you can easily craft this tool with the required materials.
How to Craft a Ladder in New Horizons
Once you’ve purchased the Ladder Recipe from Nook’s Cranny, you can craft your own ladder from a workbench. Just scroll down until you find it or navigate to the tools tab to better sort through your recipes. To craft one, you’ll need the following materials:
- x4 Wood
- x4 Hardwood
- x4 Softwood
You can collect all three types of wood by striking trees on your island with an axe. Personally, I’m hesitant to chop down trees, as they take a few days to grow back once you replant them. Fortunately, there are a couple of resolutions to this problem.
First, you could use a flimsy axe to hit trees. This won’t chop them down entirely, as the tool isn’t strong enough. This is how I prefer to collect resources, myself.
However, you could also talk to Kapp’n at the Pier and visit a mystery island to farm materials there. There are no consequences when you chop down trees on other islands, but the trip will cost you 1,000 Nook Miles. Weigh your options to decide which route is more doable.
Once you have a ladder, you can even craft a permanent ladder to place on your island with the set-up kit. This will require a ladder you’ve crafted, plus x5 Wood.
