How to Get Iron Nuggets in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

To get your hands on iron nuggets in New Horizons, you’ll just need to craft or purchase a shovel. You’ll find crafting recipes and ready-made tools for sale at Nook’s Cranny. In the early stages of the game, your only option may be to purchase a recipe for a Flimsy Shovel. Later on, you’ll have your pick of a variety of styles.

With a shovel on hand, look for rocks throughout your island. You’ll find a total of six scattered about the landscape, some of which may be inaccessible without a ladder or vaulting pole. If you hit them with your shovel, you’ll get stones, iron nuggets, clay, and sometimes gold. There’s even a special rock that produces Bells each day.

That said, there’s no guarantee you’ll get the materials you need from the rocks on your island alone. If you need to get more iron nuggets or other resources, you can also talk to Kapp’n at the Pier and visit a mystery island for 1,000 Nook Miles. This is the best way to farm resources, so stock up on everything you can during your visit.
