Recent FAQ Answers Offer No Solace to Helldivers 2 Players

It’s been a long week for fellow Helldivers. The current Major Order required lots of effort. Some fans were upset because of yet another delay of the release of a new patch. On May 29, a Helldivers 2 Community Manager, Katherine Baskin (AKA Baskinator), offered the players an update to FAQ. She covered several different topics on the official Discord channel.

A Valiant Effort by the Community Manager

While answering the General questions, Baskinator revealed that Helldivers 2 didn’t support cross-progression or a mouse and keyboard on PS5. A player-facing roadmap was something that the developers wanted to add. For now, there isn’t any information on if and when it could be added.

Baskinator issued a reminder that the players could make suggestions via community channels (Discord, Reddit, Steam, etc.). She added they were developing a more effective way to collect feedback, but fans could always DM Community Managers. Fans can also ask for any type of technical support.
Baskinator also addressed the region blocking on Steam. She explained: “The discussions between Sony and Steam are ongoing, and we do not have any updates on the situation. However, as soon as we do, we will let you know”. The CM reminded the players that they didn’t have to kill their team members to get all the samples, as the samples were a shared resource.
The most asked Gameplay question was: “Why can’t I equip two exosuit Stratagems at once”. Now, you are probably aware of the addition of the second exosuit earlier this week. Players noticed that it was impossible to equip both the new and the EXO-45 Patriot Exosuit for the same mission.
The code team answered that question: “The mechs require a lot of system resources- significantly more than other Stratagems – to the point where we need to keep a cap on vehicles in general to avoid further problems with stability and performance. We want to un-cap the number of mechs/vehicles but more work is required on our end to make sure we can do that in a stable way”.

Dedicated Fans Left Asking for More

As you might have guessed, the fans weren’t especially happy with this update. Alcatraz_ said: “Never seen an FAQ before where the answer to every question is just some form of no”. Others readily agreed. Call_The_Banners confirmed: “My thoughts as well. I guess an answer is better than no answer”.
Others were concerned that the possibility of DM-ing a Community Manager might be a really bad idea. GeneralAnubis explained: “It absolutely makes a huge difference when you control the inflow in a manner that is both visible to all admins and anonymous (both ways). You can also much more easily sort and categorize the information when you control how it comes in. There’s a very good reason why nearly every Discord community past a certain size makes DMing the admins/mods against the rules”.
A consensus was reached. Most of the players were even more confused by the FAQ, as it raised more questions than it answered. Once again, a Community Manager somehow managed to let down the Helldivers 2 players. It is understandable that the game is evolving, nothing is certain at the moment, but why try and offer non-existent answers? Hopefully, the next time a CM answers the FAQ, they’ll actually have some information to share.
