Bikes would be very difficult to do as it's a whole other game engine.
Also, if they can't get the engine noises to sound like something other than a vacuum when in reality you're supposed to be hearing a roaring V8, then Poliphony can go screw. I was the biggest GT fan in the world back in the day with GT1, 2 and 4, 5 was a big mess with long loading times and 6 had a graphics downgrade if comparison vids are to be believed.
Every other racer out there has the sound effects down. All GT has now is realistic looking cars, but if they can't get their sound effects past the PS1 era I won't even waste a second of my time with it.

I am a huge GT fan but let's be honest the game needs improvements. One thing that GT has over Forza is the actual driving. Forza hasn't come close to GT in actual feel of driving

So here are few things I think next GT should do:

1-We don't need 1200 cars, we don't need we have X number of cars slogan to buy GT. It's on of the biggest IP's so we don't need gimmicks. GT series doesn't requure that

2-make improvements in online, have fun team based modes online like Forza has
3- please please allow more visual customization and community features like Forza

4- give us 300-400 premium cars and make them all worst getting

5- please figure out a great career mode, instead of just driving and menus

6- visual impact, by this I mean engines noise, damage etc,

next entry into GT on ps4 should just be called Gran turismo, no numbered entry

I personally can't wait, PS3 gave PD a lot of trouble so I am sure they are quite excited to have easier time with development. Which in return will make the development time shorter and more time for actual testing/improvements

Almost everything in existence needs improvements. And GT is no exception to that rule, so I agree with you on that front. Here's where we disagree though;

GT doesn't have "one thing" over Forza, it has MANY MANY THINGS over Forza.

GT actually DOES NEED a huge amount of cars. I've been playing GT since 1999 and I have met and played against a lot of GT players. And being able to have the car you own in real life featured in the game is part of the Gran Turismo culture. There's a reason why GT games sell so much, and Forza doesn't.

GT's career mode is unmatched on consoles, and that's factual. In no other driving sims on consoles can you play do Rally/snow, Nascar, circuits, Formula 1, Weather/Night racing all from the same game. That doesn't mean it can't get better, but let's not even try to pretend that there's anything else better on consoles.

Forza is a great franchise and does a lot of things for its fans. But when compared to the scale of Gran Turismo, we don't really have much to discuss. A big part of GT's appeal has always been about the scope and diversity of it's challenges.

Surely a better online structure and better damage simulation is expected and welcomed. A sim's job is to get closer and closer to real life as possible. But on that same token, GT does NOT have to cater to Forza fans. There are 6-8 million more GT players in the world than that are Forza players. So why GT would want to be more like Forza makes no real sense, even on the business front.

I agree with both of you.

Customization, damage etc... aren't gimmicks, it provides something for people who are car lovers, but aren't into racers. People who love tweaking and modding cars (Gearheads), and people who love custom paint jobs. Damage also adds another layer of realism to races IMO. These things are just nice additions to an already great game.

Car list. I think they have to have a big list of cars, simply because it's the racing sim on consoles, and they need that library of cars to own that title. But I think this gen all the cars will be premium, and as a result the number of cars isn't going to be over 1,200 again. As a matter of fact if GT7 was to launch next year I think we'd only see around 500 cars, which IMO is more than enough as long they nail all the classics, exotics, etc... However, I don't expect GT7 until 2016 and by then it should have a solid 600 - 750 cars, which is a number IMO.

I also agree with dropping the number in the name.

As far as career mode I think he just wanted better presentation, rather than going from race to race through menus. Add a bit of cinematic flair, which isn't required, buy it would be something new as well, and this is a new generation so it's time for everything "T" to be crossed and "i" dotted.

Being able to have limitless customization would be awesome, and having community make theirs than upload so others can enjoy can add more to the game IMO. Is it a killer feature no, but it will add to the whole experience

I still think next entry will see less cars, my guess is something between 450-600.

1- we need a lot of cars (the more the better in my own opinion)but a wider variety instead of like 20 different skylines and only one escort lets makes the balance better

2- yes we do need improvements to online less lag and more anti-cheat systems in place

3- more visual customization would be nice to give your car a more unique feeling

5 - while I enjoy the career mode, there is no need for them stupid tutorials it should be like GT 3 where you go straight into a rally race, or endurance race etc

7 - they should include full weather effects on all races so it can be sunny one minute then change to rain the next

I think everyone here just does not get GT. Comparing GT to Forza and Drive Club, SHAME ON YOU SHAME ON ALL OF YOU.
First off Forza and Drive Club are Arcade driving games with simulation features. GT is a driving simulation game that has some arcade settings for those who cant drive.
Second GT is not a story game the career mode they have is great for a driving simulator.
Third 1200 cars I wish we had every car ever made. If your going to play a driving "simulator" how cool would it be to take that Ford Tempo(example) and drop big $$$ into it and see how well it preforms. Lambo's Ferrari's other high dollar cars are in every game whats wrong with flirting with speedy a Pinto or having a rally Subaru Brat(more examples).
I'm not trying to bash you showtimefolks your list is great for arcade driving games and if thats what you want then stick to your Forza and Drive Club.

GT6 released on December 6, 2013. 3 weeks after the PS4 and XBOX One were released. I think common sense predicts the focus would have been shifted from PS3 to PS4 for most people. And as testament to GT6's significance in the industry, there has been no other racers released since December 6, 2013 that has outsold it.

And as far as your opinion in regards to GT5, we'll just leave it that. But this "HUGE" disappointment you call GT5, by itself outsold every single Forza game released since then by almost 3 million units., Forza 4 (4.3M), Forza 5 (1.6M), Forza Horizon (1.8M) and FH2 (maybe 500?) <----combined for 8.2 Million Forza games. I don't know. I think the game will look good, not as good as DriveClub, because GT7 is more than likely aiming for 60fps, which means a quality dip from DC.

The good news is that GT7 is an exclusive so Polyphony can pull all the tool, tips, and techniques Evolution used to make DC look so good. Also Project Cars id 1080p @ 60fps on PS4, and it look good as well. GT7 should find a happy medium between Project Cars and Drive Club.

Take PCars and add DC weather system, and boom GT7 looking beautiful.

I think everyone has different views of what they want GT7 to be like. For me I want GT7 to not have Premium and none Premium cars and the same for tracks too. In GT5 some tracks Like Rome looked amazing and the same with the Premium cars but when you played on some of the other tracks/none premium cars the game looked like a PS2 game. They also need to work on the engine noises too as I thought they were poor in 5.

I also want it to be a stable 60fps too.

I would also like a better online mode too as again GT is lacking in this too.

As I said we are all wanting different things from the game but for me I want PD to make the best possible game they can on the PS4 and not release a game that is not finished or has issues like GT5 did.

I know we have had GT6 but I missed this game part because of the mess of 5 and also because I moved to next gen too.

That said im looking forward to seeing what is shows off for by PD over the next 12 to 18 months.

When an update released that added Quick Match races, it showed how many races were being held for each of the four rooms.

At most, later on in the day or during the weekend, there are 50,000 races running for extended periods of time.
With that said, Quick Match needs to be better. The races should be longer.

Oh, and with the Seasonal Events, which also update every week, the Time and Drift Trials show that there are easily +100,000 people logging in.

I find absolutely hilarious how some people get bent on numbers and elected 60 fps as some sort of magical king of gaming because they have no idea of how many non-numerical values can improve certain games much more.

Might want to get used to it. Many developers choose and will choose 30 fps over 60 for many games, using the resources for other, more useful things, because they know what's good for their games better than you do.

so what point are you trying to make? If you play sim racers on PC, you should know that 60FPS is the only to play. Anything less gives you less accurate feedback on the car, along with slower responses. So tell me again how 30FPS is passable in a sim, when it actually hurts the gameplay?

You are focusing too much on input response while ignoring the benefits of higher FPS on things like suspension calculations based on weight loads during cornering, tyre simulation etc. These things have an effect driver inputs in relation to the car. And feedback on what is going on in/with the car is one of the things that sets a sim apart from a mere arcade racer. I think its crazy that would debate this stuff, given you play games like iracing. Thats just coming from a fellow PC gamer.

Racing games HAVE to have a higher frame-rate - for visuals and physics - to be able to perform (like what every racing game development team understands). It's actually 120fps on the CPU side of things, but that's something I can't explain. I was told this by someone with high credibility. I don't post complete nonsense, so... trust me.

The difference in feedback from the car at 60 fps is absolutely negligible. If you think you can actually perceive it with a jump as small as 30 to 60, you'll forgive me if I giggle a bit.

You can think it's "crazy" as much as you want (it's pretty common for people around here to think those that argue against them are "crazy"), but racing sims benefit much more from other elements, like physical interactions and AI that can be performed on the GPU side, number of cars on track, draw distance, weather and so forth. Those all have a cost, and outweigh 60 FPS in importance for racing games, not by a small margin.

Thanks for stating the obvious. Too bad that 60 fps do have a hit on performance, which makes the scenario you described inconsequential, and which is why many developers choose other options over it, because other elements like draw distance, detail, numbers of characters on the screen or lighting are better for their games.

It's a proven fact that 60 fps allows for better controller response which in turn makes the gameplay smoother. That's why all games "feel" better at 60 fps than at 30 fps. Saying that it doesn't is a bold faced lie.

It's also true that devs on consoles choose to have eye candy over 60fps but that's only because the eye candy helps them selling games. If they didn't have to compromise they would definetely go for 60fps in every single game like they do for the PC versions of multiplats.

If you go back into time I think you had pretty much every car from GT4 on PS2 in GT5 on PS3 and about 200 new ones and every car from GT5 in GT6 with inclusion of new ones as well. By the way in all honesty I can't wait for GT7 because it was really fun collecting cars in GT5 (I'm planning to get 6) so I don't mind if we get even more cars. Also you mentioned that GT7 will be build anew. Wasn't GT3 being build from scratch back in the day? It had about 180 cars compared to GT2's over 600 which could possibly mean that while we'll get a lot less cars in GT7 compared to GT6 but they'll be much more detailed and maybe even every single one will have its own interior.

While people were talking about Driveclubs graphics, I was talking about this GT7, the definitive racing franchise, it's still getting prototype futuristic cars to this day, I can't wait to see whick car or racing genre they tap into next, they have NASCAR, offroad, Go-Karts, even Luner rover(which they can do more with.). I love to see devs that strive for excellence, not just graphics. But I hope they are influenced by Driveclubs sense of speed, and visual fidelity, aswell as their social features (which it seems every major racer has been, The Crews , crews/Forzas clubs)

Anyway, GT on PS4, much like all the biggest PS4 exclusives, have not even been announced officially yet and are probably still about two years away from release at the very least.

I think the problem with damage effects in a tran tourismo is that they work so hard to make each of these cars drive as they do in real life. Introducing damage would change how each car drives, unless of course, the damage is only aestetical*. (In which case i personally would be ok with it). But the point of gran tourismo is that you wanna play a simulation of how these car are in real life, so damage would get in the way of that i think. Same thing goes for customization.

Well, fair enough, but you do get practice runs, a skilled driver doesn't drive to crash (in theory), also it could be an option to switch off with regards to handling.
Personally, it would add to the realism.

I've been a big fan of GT for a long time. GT5 is the game that finally made me buy a G27 racing wheel, and I haven't looked back. Now all my excitement for Gran Turismo PS4 is cut short by the fact that I'm going to have to buy a properly expensive new racing wheel for it. Y'know, so I get the same experience I had in GT5 and GT6 with my G27.

Lets hope they can deliver if before 2020 with all prestige cars and it won't be 600 missans with minor tweaks.

Oh and hire a decent UI designer. GT5 was painful.

I dunno about you but I would like to have more customisation. Like Engines and drivetrains.(AWD,RWD,FWD)

Adding engine options to some models and make for example a BMW or VW AWD would be cool. Dont think I have seen a AWD Golf or BMW in GT, but they exist and Most cars have regular engines and more punchy engines like the Golf which has engines from 1.6L 4cyl - 2L 4cyl / 3.2L 6cyl ranging from about 100-290 HP (Id love to see the R400 in GT7 as a concept or something atleast tho).

The most important things might be to add new modes, smooth things up and make the engines sound a little better. Havent played GT6 but not all cars sound that great in GT5.

And no standard cars or recycled tracks... I can dream right?
Some classic tracks could need a huge overhaul as well.

No doubt in my mind its gonna be gorgeus and fun, but the standard stuff takes a little away from it and breaks the immersion for me in GT5.

I love the GT Series but since they will keep Standard Cars in GT7 and even after a year still didn't follow up with promises for GT6 I really don't know when this game will see the light of day. 2018?
And people saying Forza Graphics are bad or last gen don't know what they are talking about.
1080p 60fps launch title with gorgeous graphics and car models.
I expect GT7 to have better lighting since this was always their strength compared to Forza.

What it needs.

1)better engine sounds, aka driveclub.
2)1080p/60fps
3)sim part should be full sim/
4)Make the arcade part pure arcade.
5)add more types of gameplay.

GT5/6 looked stunning, although I preferred the look of the 5.

Well, I don't care if the game looks pretty with high graphical fidelity. As long as the gameplay overall improves and most importantly the single-player AI improves.

I'll only ask three things:

1. Interiors for ALL cars, please. I don't care if that means you will have to put a little less detail under the cars or render the engines with a few less screws than they have in real life, or that Gran Turismo 7 will have about 100 Skylines less than previous games. I'll happily trade off such vain efforts for something that a I, and a lot of people, care more about. Car interiors for ALL cars, or bust!

2. Streamline the menus, please. Make the game easier to navigate. In fact, don't just make it "easier to navigate". Make it EASY TO NAVIGATE, period. This is the main culprit that made me abandon Gran Turismo 5. After around 20-something hours of playing it, I just got fed up with spending half the time just scrolling between menus and loading times instead of actually racing. For example, having to check a Cup to see which cars can actually be used on said cup, then getting out of it to go to the store and try and find those cars, one by one, and also the Used Cars dealers... that was incredibly stupid and annoying. Why not give the players a "Fast Access" option to whatever cars are available for sale under the budget you already have? Sort of a quick menu to get there fast?

3. Use the added power of the PS4 to, you know, make the AI much more smart this time around. Make them actually react and adapt to your own driving, in a perceptible way.

I agree with you on point number 3. My god the AI on GT5 when I used to play is a total nightmare! They were completely brainless.

I really hope that changes with GT7 otherwise it will end up on my shelf collecting dust, or on my payment history wasting pixels.

Do hope and expect Sony/Polyphony to step up their game when it comes to all things audio ( engine, tire roar/turns/braking and all things that vibrate mechanically ). This probably is their weakest link.

Night time lighting/gradient atmosphere needs to be improved on as well.

Wish they would bin all 2nd hand cars not having cockpit view. All cars should have equal presentation when it comes to resolution.

Present a lot of new tracks from different parts of the globe and dump some of the old ones ( since PS1 days ).
