"Fantastic" sounds plenty encouraging.
It's only people who are closed-minded that automatically count any different experience as a negative even before it's fully unveiled.

We don't need a third carbon-copy traditional console on the market. Everyone would just ignore it unless they loved Nintendo games, just like they did the Gamecube, because their current systems will get all the same multiplats the NX will anyways.
Better that Nintendo makes a hook that core gamers will like, than to forego any effort to differentiate themselves outside of software.

I sympathize with you monkey. I too LOVE that Nintendo magic. Its time to face reality though. They just aint what they used to be. And by all accounts they are producing their third strike with this gimmick pseudo-console. I would like nothing more for them to return to greatness bit its just not looking good.

I was pretty hyped for WiiU. Thought it could lead to some good game play innovation and what not. But ultimately, I was left disappointed, because it was mostly superfluous implementation, and the most compelling implementations of the touch pad were in demo software.

I agree that people shouldn't dismiss things outright because they're different, otherwise we'll never see innovation, but at the same time, giving the benefit of the doubt just because an exec who wants to sell a product states it's fantastic isn't something we should be all excited for without knowing any more details. Different doesn't always mean better. Nintendo has to deliver a better experience, not a different one. And then they have to make use of that better experience in a way that is meaningful. If they do this, then they'll get support.....like they did with the Wii, which was better for many people, just not us.

I get so sick of hearing this. It WOULDN'T be a carbon copy because Nintendo's IP's are what would make it unique! I can't play Zelda, Mario, Metroid, Pikmin, Mario Kart, Splatoon, Smash Bros, Star Fox, Yoshi, Animal Crossimg, Pokemon, Donkey Kong, FZero, Kirby, Luigi's Mansion, etc on PlayStation or Xbox. Stop telling me that a powerful Nintendo console that plays Nintendo IP's is a "carbon copy" of the other consoles! If Nintendo truly feels this way then they're selling their IP's short.

What if the gimmick is 3 screens similar to a 3 monitor setup and the others screens are touchscreens with either controls and/or the display for fps games or casual game menu screens? Obviously the resolution would have to be small and they would still want joysticks on the bottom

Ubisoft and others like EA hyped the Wii and Wii U up. Look what happened a year or so in, especially to the Wii U which Ubisoft praised to the high heavens how much they were going to support it only deciding the machine wasn't worth it after Watch Dogs. I mean I bet developers will be able to do more with the PS4/Xbox One still so god knows what it will be like with the PS4 Pro and Scorpio.

Those devs also hyped up other consoles like the PS4 before launch, yet it seems it's only a bad thing when they do it for Nintendo, to gamers like you.

Yes...and many records broken and 40 plus million units sold later. They had great reason to. Nintendo is too much of a hit or miss, thus...fans will remain skeptical until they see it.

From what I've predicted a year ago....its a handheld that outs to a TV.

They are leaving the dedicated console market.

Support from 3rd party may not matter if its indeed a handheld and not in the market of console.

Flash forward a year later, guess what we are reading from those leaks?

I need to know what it offers me as a gamer, not as a Nintendo fan. A Nintendo hardcore will buy it day 1 anyway, thus...irrelevant, those that left Nintendo ie 190 million in 1 gen, need to know what happened before, won't happen again with NX.

That is still not known, again...Wii had crap hardware, crap online...Wii U had crap hardware and crap online.

What Fox is saying makes sense. They've stated this before, their line up of NX games isn't really helping either as its not them saying Watchdogs 2, new AC etc, its Just Dance lol Not really comforting to Nintendo fans hoping for a hardcore machine as Ubisofts own statements are sorta saying otherwise.

I do agree that Nintendo dominates the handheld market but why come out with a hybrid handheld and console that effectively from the handheld side is actually competing against your own product? Even on the console side, you are looking at a product that is underpowered compared to the current three-year-old consoles.

I know some fanboys will say that I am anti-Nintendo but I have owned all Nintendo's consoles up to and including the Gamecube. The Wii was the turning point for me since I loathed its controller and its compleat disregard for the High Definition market. Any company could see that the high definition market was a market well worth supporting even before the XBox360 and PS3 came out, why was Nintendo the only company that could not see this?

As for games please don't point at any with Mario in them since I have never liked those games although I do like the Metroid and Zelda series.

You don't HAVE TO upgrade anything. It's your choice to do so. All games will play on both. Do forget to video tape Sony forcing you to go the store and forcing you to buy a Pro.

I think people are waiting for the 1st video to show evidence of a company doing this. Can't wait!!! O_o

Let's hope that Nintendo doesn't ruin the NX with the phony 3D gimmick they used on the 3DS. It really just didn't improve the gaming experience at all, in fact it made the experience much worse.

If all it has to offer is Pokemon and the usual Mario games then colour me unimpressed tbh, personally i don't really like Pokemon as i find it boring. I can go a new 3D Mario, maybe another Mario Kart.. Star Fox and some others, but it really needs third party support.. So I'll see what the reveal is like, if it turns out underwhelming i am going to be sad.

All depends on what support it has to me, I'm a PC gamer so i get all multiplats anyway.. so i might pick this up as a secondary gaming machine.

One thing is for sure. While ps4 and x1 owners are bashing everything in such a negative way, happy Nintendo fans are enjoying quality with finished products, top gameplay, original ideas and brilliant music. At least it's better than all those boring, grim, violent and unfinished games that completely ruin the industry, alongside it's complaining consumers who are never satisfied. 🐸😘

You can't even take the praising of a Nintendo console serious. Even if their console creates a wow factor, it'll fall far too behind in 3rd party support, as the last 2 consoles have. No 3rd party support = no success.
