VGChartz Writes: "Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare has been a success for developer Sledgehammer Games. While sales might be down when compared to last years Call of Duty: Ghosts it is still the bestselling game in 2014 so far.
The game has managed to sell 11.44 million units worldwide in its first four weeks at retail, according to VGChartz. During Black Friday week the game managed to 1.45 million units worldwide.
The PlayStation 4 version of the game is by far the bestselling with sales of 4.01 million units as of November 29. The Xbox One version has sod 2.61 million units, while the Xbox 360 version has sold 2.21 million units. The PlayStation 3 version has sold 2.44 million units. The PC version has managed to sell just 163,652 units at retail."
Former director at Activision, Bret Robbins, revealed that Advanced Warfare 2 had a working prototype, but it was eventually shelved for COD WWII.
That is a shame. AW is my favourite CoD. I hope they do a sequel one day.
I still prefer CoD based on historical settings or in near future settings(like CoD: Ghost) ... even though I liked infinite Warfare's campaign ... it was top notch
Game Rant Writes "With rumors swirling about a sequel to Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, Sledgehammer Games can bring back a few weapons for a modern encore."
GR: "If one series truly defined the seventh generation of consoles it was Call of Duty. Sadly, the series has struggled to reach the same heights on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and only Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare feels like the previous era of innovation and top-notch storytelling."
I quite enjoyed it but I think black ops 3 was the high point.
Modern warfare could be if a few tweaks are made and the new maps are good.
The campaign was OK, but the guns sounded like cap guns and the multiplayer maps were not memorable at all.
That is some amazing sales!
the game is good not MW1/MW2 good or BO1/BO2 good but it's better waaay better than ghosts and MW3
the sp is very good and has that 3 year polish feel to it, the graphics in the campaign is mind blowing
now what i absolutely hate and drive me nuts about this game is the awful CoD ghosts player movement/animation mechanics, man it's so confusing and irritating..... make it almost unplayable
please treyarch ditch it
So the timed dlc for xbox didn't really do much for sales I guess. Wonder if cod will switch it's exclusiveness with Playstation next cod. There were rumors about it earlier this year
I wonder why they say PC gamers only sold that number "at retail"? Does that mean they only count the physical copies sold or that it has to sell for full price? I just saw COD:AW on sale during the Exploration Sale. I expected them to move a lot more units than that on Pc.
I think it's an excellent time to invest into Activision and other big game companies' stock, because the transition to digital sales is starting. Most companies won't disclose their digital sales until they "need" to (that is when shareholders are getting shaky). Some of the stocks are underperforming due to hidden digital sales. They also make more money for the devs and publishers, as 3 digital games roughly equals 4 physical copies in terms of ROI (return on investment).
Probably 1/4 were digital sales for COD:AW. That would make it past 14m already.
