DerpTrolling leaks PSN, 2K, Windows Live customer logins

Hacker group DerpTrolling has released a "very small portion" of usernames and logins for three gaming networks in its possession as a "warning to companies".

Majin-vegeta3444d ago

Yea....maybe try changing the pix to one with both Xbox&PSN logo.Since both were compromised and not just PSN.

Torque_CS_Lewith3444d ago

Pretty sure Windows Live is not Xbox Live...hence the PS3/4 tags but no Xbox.

christocolus3444d ago

Lol.Was about to say the same thing. You beat me to it.

TIER1xWOLFPACKx3444d ago

People use there window live sign in for xbl so technically both are effected

Tempest3173444d ago

They use the same servers and login information...my windows live login is my xbl login

AliTheSnake13444d ago

So were they bullied a lot at school ? Or do they hate it everytime they look at the mirror.
I just don't understand why they do these things. Only thing I can do is try to imagine how they look like in real life and laugh about it.

guitarded773444d ago

Yeah, my Windows Live account is tied to my XBOX Live account. My phone and computer and XBOX all tie together.

Aside from that argument. This sucks BIGTIME. I f#@ki^& HATE these dip$#!t hackers. They are doing nothing for us gamers. They think they're sticking it to the man, but they aren't... they're just screwing the little people.

rainslacker3444d ago

Live is an all encompassing service. You can log onto any live service using any username(email). Xbox live is just the Xbox extension of live.

Seriously, when is this going to end, hackers are threatening companies to update servers and software to better safeguard customer data, yet once the the companies do tighten security, some other hacker comes along and hacks that new server.

kneon3444d ago

It will only end when anonymous access to the internet ends, and that won't happen any time soon, probably never.

rainslacker3444d ago

Even if it were anonymous it would still be hacked.

kneon3443d ago

I assume you missed a "not" in front of anonymous.

Requiring end to end authentication would go a long way to stopping hackers. If every server, node, client and connection had to prove it's identity before it could access anything you'd have to hack through a huge chain of machines before you could do any real damage.

Use some form of 2 or 3 factor authentication for end users so that stealing someones identity becomes extremely difficult. And if you monitor logins centrally then you can catch most instances of stolen logins.

This sounds like a pain for end users but in fact it means you would never have to login to a service ever again, once you're on the internet then every site you access already knows who you are.

Of course that would drive the privacy crusaders completely nuts. And we'd even have the religious zealots up in arms

"And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name."

So as I said it's unlikely to ever happen.

"DerpTrolling really has many forms, most people only see the Gaming side of us! We can be very serious hackers."

Well the gaming side makes you look like spiteful and harmful kids .

OMG! My Windows Live account is my Xbox Live account, should I change my password or the news is fake?

hello123444d ago (Edited 3444d ago )

I don't know if its fake, but i signed into x box live late last night to download the Halo patch and i was greeted with a message looking for a security code. The last time i remember that happening was 8 months ago.

You can't access your gamertag without imputting a Microsoft code and to be honest this is the gamertag i use to purchases games online.I don't know if it was Microsoft security kicking in when someone tried hacking?

rainslacker3444d ago

I appreciate that MS does do what it can to protect its users, but they do go a bit overboard on these security things at times. I am permanently locked out of a hotmail account I've had since hotmail first started because I forgot my password and couldn't answer any of the questions they ask, and I got locked out while trying to reset my password. MS customer service wasn't able to help me at all despite having my name and address on file. It's really annoying.

kneon3444d ago

You should just go ahead and change it just to be safe. If you want to stay safe you should periodically change passwords for any accounts that have sensitive information tied to them. I change mine every 2-3 months.

For unimportant stuff like N4G I have have dummy mail accounts that I only use for signing up to things like this and that aren't tied back to any accounts that are linked back to me. For those kind of sites I rarely change passwords.

ginsunuva3444d ago

Fake.

You could tell by the nonexistent emails and the name "DerpTrolling."

2K Support Hacked, Warning Issued To Affected Users

The help desk platform used by 2K Games for its customer support has been hacked, with malicious emails sent to certain players.

JBplusVB582d ago

I was one of those users that got an email. Good thing I didn't open it. The email is from actual 2k support so I'm sure many people opened them. Scary stuff Take Two. You guys should invest some of your billions of dollars into some advancements for network security. I wonder who's getting hacked next at Take Two. First GTA 6 and now this.

Wow, that reads like a great review. I enjoyed Until Dawn but only ever played it once due to other games around at the time.
This game looks very promising reading this and will definitely pickup a copy.
