Are Platinum Trophies Too Hard To Get?

For many, the Platinum Trophy is an impossible dream. Although it depends on the game, fans might agree that Platinums are simply too hard to get.

Totally depends on the game, you can get a platinum in terminator salvation by simply finishing the game on hard nothing else needs to be done, Then you have games like wipeout and certain games with dead online servers making a platinum literally impossible.

Walking Dead has one of the easiest plats ouy there. Just complete the game.

WipEout HD, Killzone 2 and DJ Hero are some of the toughest platinums to get!

Not so much as difficult but a chore mostly and some times completely reliant on luck.

transistor is the latest plat i got and i liked it because it doesnt need you to play the game a billion times and other nonsense devs put to artificially extend the life of the game.

If anyone can help me get the "Fly the Co-op" trophy I will purchase a $25PSN card for the two people that help me get this trophy. Then I just need to grind to level 10 and I will have all the online trophies.

Also many games have time consuming thropies that's just not worth it, some games like Star Ocean 4 can even eat up over 1000 hours of repetitive madness to get the platinum..

There was at least a few kind of annoying trophies in megadrive collection mainly mean bean machine and echo the dolphin was so time consuming and boring just swin left and right gobbling fish for 30 mins.

If I look at a trophy list and realize some of the trophies will require me to play over the same section or campaign twenty times, screw that. It's not worth it. I want to have fun earning my trophies. I love a challenge, but not when grinding is involved.

As far as online trophies go, the developer should release those trophies to the public for free and give people who earned the trophies before that an extra trophy. ;)

The point of Platinum Trophies is to make the game more challenging, to keep you playing, and make you a better overall player...Saying their too hard to get is another way of saying "I suck at this game, and don't wish to invest time into it."

Unless the trophies are tied to online features that get shut down eventually. The ones that bug me the most are ad-hoc play ones on the Vita.
I wish all trophies could be completed single player.

I think most of the time they are spot on... but +1 on anyone who says online is a pain because if you buy the game long after it comes out and the trophy is to win online matches or have a winning streak online or something it is almost impossible and takes more time than it should.

A platinum trophy is, of course, a sum of the game's individual trophies.
Having said that, a platinum trophy is only as hard as any one particular trophy.

Only trophies/achievements I can't stand are those that force you to play online. Games like Assassins Creed for example; I have all single player trophies but I can't stand playing its boring online mode.m

The only thing I ask as a trophy (level 14 now)/achievement (119,000 G before I gave up on Xbox =D) enthusiast is please, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, NO MP trophies/achievements. When servers inevitably go down they become literally impossible to earn legitimately. Where's the fun/replay value in that?

IMO achievements/trophies complement already great games by adding additional replay value and opportunities to play games in ways I wouldn't have otherwise.

Well, there's a reason why they're called "platinum", they're supposed to be hard. Anyway, I find amazing that platinum trophies cant be bought in-game like a DLC. "Platinum is too hard for you? Show it to your friends for only $5.99!". Well, the way industry is right now, I suppose that day isn't far.

Some are just ridiculous. Soul Calibur 5 for example there was a trophy that you had to walk so many paces. I think it was 98,765m or some stupid number. It was so tedious that I was putting rubber bands on my controller on a screen that never ended. Now that is just dumb. I had the hardest of trophies way before that stupid trophy. That crap has to stop. And while I don't mind that games do have multiplayer trophies (I prefer that they didn't), what about after servers close? Yeah...now those are truly impossible.

I say no, but there are trophies that make them impossible. I friggin hate "play with your friends" trophies. It's no skill, it's just "get people to buy our game pretty please!" Plus online servers go down or become empty, so impossible.

If you took those away I'd have so many more plats it would be insane.

A mans feelings exactly. A man has 3 requirements before he gets set on a plattinum
1. It's gotta be a good game. A man isn't ever going to buy a game for trophies so he has to enjoy it regarless.
2. No online trophies. Just too much reliance on others and often too time consuming. Also a man normally just doesn't enjoy online unless it's co-op
3. Can't be annoyingly time consuming. A man will never do a demons souls like platinum again (which he did get) because it just kinda makes YA hate the game is the trophies aren't enjoyable to get

Got my first platinum recently from ac4 black flag. What a chore. Hated having to pay so long on mp just to get trophies. Devs should consider not adding mp where it isn't relevant to the game. Does anybody seriously though think the tomb raider mp was anything other than pointless crap for example? Platinum should be achieved by 100%ing a game in its hardest difficulty mode and finding all collectibles and secrets. Not for mp.

The life of a trophy hunter is no easy task I have over 100+ some those plats were fun, others a grindfest, some those time-consuming MP!Though that satisfaction you feelwhen you see that platinum?? Such "hahhhhh finally" moment! lol

I remember my first plat was from GoW collection I finished the game and decided "heck why not" and thus begun the madness!

Sometimes my friends suggest I plat these "easy" games but if I wnated to plat games just for the heck of it and cuz they were easy Id most likely have 300 plats like no joke with all those Disney games!

I don't mind online trophies as long as I don't have to rely on OTHER players to get the trophies.

For example a trophy for nobody on my team dying sucks, since that's completely out of my control.

Stuff like play 20 matches, reach rank X I don't mind that much, but extreme games like Killzone 2 is just overkill.

I also would like maybe 2 platinum trophies for some games, one for single player only and one for multiplayer only.

There are plenty of games where I have all trophies, except the trophies for multiplayer. Some multiplayers are fun, others are tacked on and I really dont feel like wasting time on them, just to get a virtual trophy to show people that I indeed, did waste time on them.

I think the biggest problem with most of them is the time consuming aspect. Some trophies seriously take forever to get.

But that's just me though.

I can't say that they're too hard, because there's people who put in the work and get the platinums pretty easily. (Depending on the game). I don't have any platinum trophies. In my opinion there's too much players have to complete to get a platinum trophy. I feel like if I beat the game then I should get the platinum trophy. I don't want to beat a game 2-3 times on multiple difficulties, with multiple characters, etc.
