PS4 Remote Play Coming To Xperia Z3 Devices In November

Sony just announced that PS4 Remote Play will be soon available on Xperia Z3 devices such as smartphones and tablets.

Always wanted to play proper console games on my tablet. I wish they made a tablet sized Vita (with Tablet functionality as well). I would be all over that. This is very tempting tho. I guess you'll be able to sync your DS4 to the tablet/phone?

Don't worry to those who (like me) are too cheap to buy the X3 when it first launches. 'Cause, ya, Remote-play for Android will 99.999% find it's way onto other (rootable) Android devices via "hacker methods". Don't listen to marketers who don't know crap about what goes into sw/hw engineering and/or design (at least relative to the actual engineers/reverse engineers).

I left Samsung after Galaxy S3 and now using Z Ultra. Samsung definitely has their custom Android version better than stock Android and Xperia flavoured Android.

but I chose Sony for built quality and Samsung is not in the same ballpack in this regards. those Galaxy plastics are getting old for me. can't shake how cheap it feels.

Android runs off linux, so any and all software can be re-purposed to work on a phone of any similar specs. And the brunt of the work is video decoding (on the part of the client phone/tab) so, I'd imagine any phone from the past 2 years could run the app.

Well see if the theory is proven wrong, but if PSM could be run on non-PS certified devices then it's looking like any new rooted phone would be able to do this too.

edit: Calm your moobs, disagreeing disagreers! :P I'm not taking anything away from the announcement, just stating my opinion and some facts!

You have to be in the same WIFI network... I don't know if playing on a small screen is that great. You need to play with dual shock anyway. It probably is cheaper to buy a 27inch LCD and PSTV than the new Z3. The experience is better as well. At least if you just wanna play in the same WIFI network at home but the TV is occupied. Most gamers probably already own a LCD screen for their PC. Just plug in a $99 PS TV and stream your PS4 games on that.

Vita's reomote play worked over a cellphone connection the day the system came out. It was already tested and youtube has videos of people tethering from a cellphone's 4G just fine. You don't have to be on the same wifi network.

Yeah. Playing remote play on the Vita is great. I'd would rather play on a Vita then on a mobile phone + dual shock :D. Or as I suggested on a LCD screen/TV with PSTV.

Yeah. Sometimes, they won't play. Sometimes, they won't maximize. What issues are you having?

I'm on Sprint, too, by the way. Switched over from AT&T. AT&T couldn't get my texting working, no matter what they tried. So, we switched. Sprint is cheaper, but the service is awful.

And to answer your question about connections, what is your setup? How fast is your internet at home? How fast is it at work? Is the PS4 on a wired connection?

Hopefully just the beginning. I dont care for the xperia phones much, would rather pay for an app that lets me remote play from an ipad or something with a bigger screen.

Also they really will need to get the web portion up and running - if I can only use it at home, im going to be using a TV.

It doesn't have to be on a home connection only, that's just where it would be strongest. Remote play works over wifi so any fast enough internet connection will do. You do NOT need to be at home.

there will be a Z3 Tablet compact. an 8" variant with the same spec and 1920X1200 screen. it will be cheaper than the iPad too if I'm not mistaken. I know I'll be getting that one as well as I love tablets too.

To think I bought the Z one year ago last month! Holy crap they are improving their phones. If anyone is thinking about buying the phone I say do it. Its a great phone with a nice battery. The screen is great, HOWEVER the Z, Z1, and Z2 all have issues with the glass breaking just by being in your pocket. I had it for 8 months and the screen broke then another 2 and it broke the other day. Im not happy I have to get another phone (went with Galaxy S5) but the phone was sweet. And I agree why with T-Mobile!?! GAH!

To push the Xperia brand into a formidable position. The Xperia Z is a good line of phones but Sony wants to make it the go to brand (something Samsung has had for years). Putting remote play on it pushes their phone.

Apple recently has been disappointing.

Only hear about Z3 and smart watch from my brother and he mentioned of PS4 remote play. Now that was interesting.

first off, you are gonna have the native DS4 control as the DS4 will be required. I think, that's a huge plus compared to Vita.
