Uncharted Movie To Start Filming In 2015. Here's What We Want To See...

Let's hope that someone has Nathan Fillion's number, because according to the latest reports, the Uncharted movie is set to start filming early next year.

Yep! According to the latest reports, it looks as if the long-mooted movie of the Uncharted video game series is finally about to get moving after years of delays.

I'm really hoping they nail this one :) On of my favorite franchises!

"The last installment in the game franchise, Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception, was graphically beyond impeccable - certainly to my mind one of the finest looking games ever. The trademark rich, colorful and vibrant environments are present in each of the Uncharted games, and the part in Uncharted 3 where Nate hangs out of the back of a plane, blows up said plane, skydives to safety is not only one of the best in gaming, it's one of the prettiest things you'll see on your TV."

THIS^

That poll at the end is a pretty tough decision...so many choices! all so important...

"Nathan Fillion as Drake"

I'm sick to death of seeing this. If you want someone like him who the big heads at Hollywood don't see as "draw in a crowd" worthy then I don't see why you wouldn't want Nolan North who is thought of in the same way

Yeah I know Fillion has been in more TV and even smaller films then Nolan and he's more well known then him but to Hollywood they are both seen as people who wouldn't be able to pull in a crowd despite who is more well known out of the two.

If thats the case I'd rather see Drake himself then someone who can act a little like him. It's Sonys film, it's Sony's game, Sony are in charge so I don't see why they can't just take a risk and get the villains/cameos played by huge movie stars for advertising.

I'm kinda sick of people saying Nolan North TBH...because it just isn't good.

[Warning: Everything I say below may seem harsh, built Understand I have nothing but love and respect for anyone involved in Uncharted]

Have you SEEN him lately...he is WAY to old for the role, and the "looks like drake" excuse doesn't really hold to much ground anymore. (Which makes sense considering the games are suppose to take place fairly close together in the game world while in the real world almost 8 years have gone by...people get old)

Anyways ND make him look younger and in better shape than he actually is... you really want this guy? (taken less than a month ago) playing the drake we know?
http://multiplayerblog.mtv....
Aside from the voice an aged look of drake, its not good enough...granted they could work around the original casts age,but then it changes the plausibility and story dynamic because of it.

NOW a YOUNGER Nolan North I would be all for
http://blog.ctnews.com/cult...

Unfortunately this picture was taken before uncharted 1 even came out. ND have stated in MANY of their developer interviews that Nolan is just a "base" model that they build around. They perfect him.

I think there are disconnects that make gamers want Nolan to be drake in the film...Maybe its because we are loyal to the actors that made a game we enjoy ...or that when we hear his voice we see drake...despite the fact that he doesn't look like him anymore. Its most likely putting the voice to a face...but we're creating the image we want to see.

I use to be all for Nolan (Uncharted and Nolan north are things that I can honestly say are a cut above the rest) ,but most pics we see on the internet of Nolan are NOT current. Like these I found from a quick google search:
http://i46.tinypic.com/335f...
he looks perfect! except that was taken in 2009...
here's a pic of him from the uncharted 3 developer interview (still not current as the game came out a few years ago)
http://media.animevice.com/...
Doesn't fit drake...
I have a lot of love for Nolan and the franchise as a whole...and I want this movie to succeed, but you cant please everyone...I think using Nolan would be a fools decision that MIGHT make some core fans happy and the rest very uninterested...then we wouldn't see another film because it didn't make money :(

Which brings me to the final point: Do we pick the original cast and hope for a miracle in the film bringing in money with no star power and old actors to play young peoples roles...or do we let hollywood "transformers" this film and make me wanna kill myself because I am tired of the uncharted films...

But there is a third avenue...why not wait and see? I'm not saying I support Nolan or Nathan Fillion as drake but I do know that Seth Gordon (director) with horrible bosses and the dynamics and casting were spot on...if he can bring that to uncharted and bring the action movie style with it...we'll have a great film.

"Have you SEEN him lately...he is WAY to old for the role, and the "looks like drake" excuse doesn't really hold to much ground anymore"

Hollywood makeup, special effects. Look at Tron Legacy with Jeff Bridges. Then you have bulk up diets and cutting down routines.

Sorry but that alone just blows most of your points out the water. People seem to think if he was cast they would just throw him in the film with what he looks like now which wouldn't happen.

"Do we pick the original cast and hope for a miracle in the film bringing in money with no star power and old actors to play young peoples roles"

No Star power? Yeah like I said fill the film full of star power in other roles. Navaro, Roman, Eddie, cameos from big actors as pirates/henchman etc. Movies have done this before.

The casting is the only thing which could make me see this film since it would be the only thing relating it to the games but no Seth has said he isn't doing Drakes Fortune story meaning he's going to stray away from the source material which will end up making the film shit...like what happens to every other video game film which does that

If the film is good I wouldn't care what Nolan looked like. They could easily make it so in the films universe Nathan Drake is an older treasure hunter.

You go on about Nolans age and looks yet Fillion is no better these days. The pictures people keep posting of Fillion are from years ago, back when Firefly was out in 2002....12 YEARS AGO.

Angels37853562d ago

I never said Fillion was a good alternative. Only that Nolan North was not.

Also why would a movie director NOT stray from the source material in some way? People don't want to see the same story...the film is suppose to be an EXPANSION of the Uncharted Universe...tell another story. Naughty dog is also very close on the project. What I'm hoping for is that the Uncharted dynamics stay the same, and the material does change such as a prequel to uncharted 1 (like golden abyss)

"If the film is good I wouldn't care what Nolan looked like. They could easily make it so in the films universe Nathan Drake is an older treasure hunter."

Very true and I agreed this avenue was possible, BUT then you would have contradicted yourself since that would be "straying from the source material" where drake is NOT old in the original and the film would have to cater to a different outline

Bradley Cooper as Nathan Drake! I'd have preferred Nathan Fillion, but he's gotten up there in Age. Maybe see him as Sully? Bruce Campbell maybe?

DEEBO3562d ago

This is all fine&dandy but they just announce the last of us movie at SDCC.yes!

thelaughingwiseman3562d ago

one in the summer the other in the fall? I hope for Josh Brolin!
