This is why they did a beta. Get all these issues out the way early. Be pissed when this is the real game.

Gh05t3564d ago

Bingo. Bungie is now aware of a bug that they obviously need to fix on when the game should prompt you to play.

I saw it prompt me at 2% and accidentally hit the button and launched it when just trying to check progress. I quickly backed out and let it finish... didn't know this was ever an issue I just knew at 2-5% nothing would be playable.

RustEGearz3565d ago

Do you guys not want gamers who happen to own an Xbox to enjoy the beta as much as the guys on the Playstation. Seriously, use your head. We are all gamers here and all deserve a good experience regardless of our console choice.

AngelicIceDiamond3565d ago

Amen.

At the end of the day our money is going back to the same company.

You're not new to this site, Ice. You know that people don't like Sasuke. But that wouldn't fit the narrative that you wish were true, would it?

Same as PS. Servers are being stressed by all the downloading. Give it some time and things will settle.

Just keep entering the codes and eventually it will work (was the best advice for the PS Beta Dload).

cl19833565d ago

My down load for the 360 is working just slowly.

Kane223565d ago

im glad im not the only one having issues with the 360 version download. my internet is fast but this beta is taking way too long to download.

cl19833565d ago

Sadly my service is garbage.

aragon3565d ago

my 360 version took an hour and a half for five gigs so i think its good here in the remote place in canada that i live

Deadpoolio3564d ago

5gb the 360/PS3 versions must look terrible then, on PS4 alone you had to download a 13gb file start the game then download another 10gb before you even got into the beta....If this is what their talking about it's the same for the PS4

Yeah what's all the fuss over this "two stage download" PS was EXACTLY the same?!

I hope the Xbox guys have the Standby download like we did ahaha.

FanboyKilla3564d ago

Whats a stand by download? You mean you being stuck in the destiny game while it downloads? Not over here buddy. That sucked soooo bad on ps4. I hope they fix that. Download destiny beta check, go play KI while wait or tv or twitch or you tube or aaaaa you get it check.

Jumper093565d ago

Installing and downloading are two different things... and Xbone is slow as shit with installing things.

UnHoly_One3565d ago

Not really. It only took me an hour to get the whole thing downloaded and installed.

I got in pretty quick after they released the codes, though.

romancer3564d ago (Edited 3564d ago )

no problems at all. XBox One. Canada.

Bungie provided me with codes exactly as promised.

Download was as fast as can reasonably be expected given the demand (for a 12 G demo); and install presented no problems.

Hard to tell in these forums whether some people are born fault-finders and simply like to grumble a lot -- or whether there are real problems that require patience to resolve.

Cueil3565d ago

it's activision's crappy servers

Volkama3564d ago (Edited 3564d ago )

It actually doesn't sound like a server load issue at all. It sounds like they haven't got the "play while you install" mechanic complete yet, and it lets you launch the game way too early.

I would speculate that getting this feature right is standard fare when releasing a game (part of the required spec), but the certification process for a beta isn't quite so thorough.

Malakhim3565d ago (Edited 3565d ago )

Hopefully it's not too bad, if it is maybe they'll tack on an extra day like other companies have done in the past

Soldierone3565d ago

Well to be fair, they already did. It wasn't supposed to be out till tomorrow. :P

BlackWolf123565d ago

Yeah that's pretty true.

I am honestly expecting it to get to the final day and Bungie says "Hey guys, we are extending the Beta for another day", just like they did with the Alpha.

LonDonE3564d ago (Edited 3564d ago )

Agreed, on a side note my X1 destiny download was a one stage download.
I didn't have to launch the app and then wait for the game to download like on PS4.
For me i just didn't launch the app when it said it was ready at 2% instead i left it going and when it reached 100% it was done and was over 12gb so i knew i had the whole beta.

Destiny Made Over $160 Million In Microtransaction Revenue In Less Than 2 Years

Destiny has made over $160 million in MTX revenue, and these numbers only account the data from late 2017 to early 2019.

Sgt_Slaughter332d ago

That's extremely low for microtransactions, especially for a game that's essentially designed around it

LucasRuinedChildhood332d ago (Edited 332d ago )

This was back when the game wasn't free to play.

The figures are from November 2017 to February 2019 (1 year and 4 months).

Based on that projection, the MTX revenue for Destiny 2 likely would have been closer to ~$240m for 2 years.

Not sure if premium expansions are included in that figure either although ... I'd hope that they are though and that most of the revenue was for actual content like Forsaken.

People spend way too much money on cosmetics.

Rude-ro332d ago (Edited 332d ago )

Seasons($10 and just got bumped to $12) and dungeon keys($10 each, two a year) are through the eververse(micro transaction) store.
So for those two years, in order to play a season, you would pay through micro transactions.

Sonic1881332d ago (Edited 332d ago )

Bungie Marathon will be worse since it's designed around it as well

Kurt Russell331d ago

It makes me sad to agree... but at the same time I am looking forward to giving it a go. Destiny 2 is so far in, I find it difficult to figure out what I am meant to do first.

buffig332d ago

I think FIFA alone makes over $1bn a year from mtx

anast332d ago

FIFA promotes a worldwide sport. It should make more money than destiny.

CantThinkOfAUsername332d ago (Edited 332d ago )

Let's compare something similar. Apex Legends and its ridiculous $18/$40 skins make EA a billion each year.

z2g332d ago

For as much as ppl complain how much they hate microtransactions, they sure don’t act like it. No wonder they aren’t going anywhere.

spicelicka332d ago

By "people" you're referring to millions and millions of people. Obviously the ones complaining aren't necessarily the same as the ones spending all that money.

There's millions that purchase MTX and there's nothing we can do about it

I've been thinking about playing through D1 again before it goes away...

CobraKai483d ago

That’s the sad reality of a game like this. I bought it, invested lots of money, and it can go away at anytime. I still think this was more fun than 2.

jeromeface482d ago

prob because 2 is a grindfest slog

spoonard480d ago

That's the bummer of 'games as a service'.
