It's fair to say that Microsoft's E3 2013 conference did not go as well as the company had hoped, thanks to its focus on far more than gaming.
Microsoft Chief Executive Officer Satya Nadella shared a bullish report on the performance of the Xbox gaming business also on PlayStation.
I'm kind of hoping they drop most hardware support here with a 'good enough console' next generation and focus more on being a publisher. Obviously that is doing well for them and they can still push cloud gaming since it's going to tons of smart TVS and devices. They're now the largest video game publisher in the world, if they aren't doing the most sales and pre-orders, then they would be in trouble. They aren't.
“We continue to transform the business and focus on margin expansion as we bring our games to over 500 million monthly active users across devices. We ended the quarter as the top publisher by pre-orders and pre-installs on both Xbox and PlayStation Store.”
Amazing news!
Xbox reigning within rival territory.
Big slap in the face of haters who used to crap on Xbox´s games and its quality.
We brought two of the biggest publishers in the world, cost thousands of people their livelihoods and consolidated a huge part of the industry, look how successful we are at gaming!
In a new interview, the Microsoft CEO talked about how a huge catalogue of Xbox games will soon implement Muse and was blown away by the AI model.
In the specific application actually discussed in the article, might have a use. Past that though, still highly suspicious.
I am curious to see how this will be implemented. If used right as an aid to developers rather than replacing them and producing inferior content, we could see the development time between games shorten with less bugs.
Let us see if they take the sensible approach.
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and CFO Amy Hood provided more color about the performance of the company’s gaming business.
Since Xbox hardware is dead and Gamepass doesn't progress anymore, the Third Party transition is the best way to go.
while revenue only grew 2%.
you knowz i always thought that Phil is the delusional one, but apparently it goes up the ladder too.
being proud of your products is different than lying to yourself about it ha
I'm getting tired making fun of anything.
But ... I mean, I don't really know what to say anymore.
How can these earnings reports & calls be allowed to aaalways be so shallow in data when it comes to Xbox?
It's become somewhat of a running gag.
• Again no operating profit/loss numbers
• Noone knows what "+30% PC GP" means
• Noone knows what "quarter record GP revenue" is
• Noone knows the actual GP subscriptions
• Noone knows X|S shipment/sellthrough
But yeah, sure, Microsoft was the No. 1 games publisher in December. Just like ABK was before.
Who would have thought. And that's almost everything we know.
Doesn't this guy know hes doing more harm than good with these Statement lately.
don't talk just show please, E3 was a good start. Talking seems to get MS/xbox brand in more trouble even when they are trying to help
the problem is its a little to late hardware is weak and rubbish so even thou they want it to be known as a gaming maching many believe the hardware was built around for tv and not for gaming
I don't care what Nadella says, I still have not forgiven Microsoft for the S##T they did last year. I always liked the PS3 and the Xbox 360 because I trusted both Sony and Microsoft (even after Sony's PSN incident). Then at the beginning of 2013, when Microsoft started to show how full of S##T they were going to be towards their customers, I lost all trust and respect for them.
Phil Spencer is going to have a hard time fixing the absolute muck up Don made of Xbox.
I think he wont let Xbox to be sold to other companies like what other people been speculating.. It seems that he is really committed to support Xbox all the way..
