Will these be available in the beta?

Whore_Mouth3586d ago (Edited 3586d ago )

Normally, no.
In a walkthrough of the beta, a trophy popped up.

This has led some people to believe that there may be achievements in the beta.

It's a long shot, but maybe.

DarkZane3586d ago

Maybe it was an internal beta build that had trophies.

i really hope they remain in the beta. not gonna lie, i don't care for gamerscore but there's something about trophies that has more value to me even though they're basically the same. leads me to get 3rd party games for my PS over my Xbox

PsycheEyeMike3586d ago

I own all consoles, but i for one can't understand how anyone can prefer trophies..
With gamerscore you know that each game ships with 1000GS. Meaning that when you get a semi-fat 50GS achievement, you know exactly it's worth and its much easier remembering how much closer you are to that 1000GS, for example.

With trophies, well. There aren't any existing standard amount of trophies (Sony should have implemented that long ago..sigh,,). That alone makes them alot worse to me. A bronze or a silver.. Their worth is.. Well.. Different for each game. The amount of trophies are all over the place between games.

I mean, there is a meaning with all games shipping with 1000GS on Xbox 360 and One. Plus, the achievement stat tracking and such, is ALOT better and meatier on the Xbox One (and to some degree on the 360).

But then again. Trophies/Achievements mean different things to different people. Im just sharing my opinion. Plus, i guess Achievements coming out long before trophies has impacted how i feel.

Although, the Platinum trophy is a nice touch.. That's something MS should have semi-copied long ago.

crxss3586d ago (Edited 3586d ago )

Actually psycheeyemike, the trophies do have a value to them. They're just hidden. But I feel ya, I used to like GS but trophies are worth getting more thanks to the platinums.

The reason PS trophies > XB GS is because:

Let's say a gold trophy is worth 50 points/gamerscore and bronze is 10.

If you rack up three gold trophies you get 3 gold trophies.

If you got the three same "gold trophies" on xbox you get 150 gs. But 150 gs could just be 10 "bronze" achievements. Whereas if you got those 10 bronze trophies on PS it wouldn't be equivalent to 3 gold trophies.

On PS each trophy is separate from another making them appear more valuable. I've 100% all the mass effects on Xbox and all I got were lame GS. 3 platinums trophy would have been more valuable to me but that's just me.

I think MS could learn a lot from Steam. Steam when you 100% a game you get a badge and I think that would be kickass if implemented right with something like a badge (different term of course) on your profile page along with a dedicated slide that can also be viewed as a separate page. It would be a great way to give some sort of compliment for 100% a game and to compete against platinum trophies.

Also it would be awesome if it implemented some sort if level system like Steam (sort of on PS3 I think though that only goes for trophies PS4 is probably the same)

PsycheEyeMike3583d ago (Edited 3583d ago )

I hear ya. But the thing is, with trophies you don't have a fixed amount of value in each game. So even though each trophy have a value (i knew they had a value) i feel they're less valuable..

That 100 GS when completing Wolfenstein on Uber difficulty for example, with GS you know its exact worth, which 1/10th of the total GS, it's a fat one :P

It's also alot easier to compare with friends. With trophies you eventually progress EXTREMELY slowly upwards in level, and it's basically impossible knowing how far towards the next level you are (without actually checking). With Gamerscore you can easily remember for example that you have 61000 GS.

I believe, and feel, that a fixed number of trophies for each game is necessary, or rather, a fixed total trophy value.

Also, on Xbox One you now have timed challenges, which award you Avatar Pictures and so on. And with the new snappable Achievement tracker it's really easy and fun to gather 'chievs.

But i ofc respect that alot of people prefer trophies (and i have gathered a whole bunch of them myself :P).

looks like it'll be fun gettin' those.

I'm not much into competetive multiplayer, but I will try platinum this game (well it also depends of how hard these raids really are)

Destiny Made Over $160 Million In Microtransaction Revenue In Less Than 2 Years

Destiny has made over $160 million in MTX revenue, and these numbers only account the data from late 2017 to early 2019.

Sgt_Slaughter342d ago

That's extremely low for microtransactions, especially for a game that's essentially designed around it

LucasRuinedChildhood342d ago (Edited 342d ago )

This was back when the game wasn't free to play.

The figures are from November 2017 to February 2019 (1 year and 4 months).

Based on that projection, the MTX revenue for Destiny 2 likely would have been closer to ~$240m for 2 years.

Not sure if premium expansions are included in that figure either although ... I'd hope that they are though and that most of the revenue was for actual content like Forsaken.

People spend way too much money on cosmetics.

Rude-ro341d ago (Edited 341d ago )

Seasons($10 and just got bumped to $12) and dungeon keys($10 each, two a year) are through the eververse(micro transaction) store.
So for those two years, in order to play a season, you would pay through micro transactions.

Sonic1881341d ago (Edited 341d ago )

Bungie Marathon will be worse since it's designed around it as well

Kurt Russell341d ago

It makes me sad to agree... but at the same time I am looking forward to giving it a go. Destiny 2 is so far in, I find it difficult to figure out what I am meant to do first.

buffig341d ago

I think FIFA alone makes over $1bn a year from mtx

anast341d ago

FIFA promotes a worldwide sport. It should make more money than destiny.

CantThinkOfAUsername341d ago (Edited 341d ago )

Let's compare something similar. Apex Legends and its ridiculous $18/$40 skins make EA a billion each year.

z2g341d ago

For as much as ppl complain how much they hate microtransactions, they sure don’t act like it. No wonder they aren’t going anywhere.

spicelicka341d ago

By "people" you're referring to millions and millions of people. Obviously the ones complaining aren't necessarily the same as the ones spending all that money.

There's millions that purchase MTX and there's nothing we can do about it

I've been thinking about playing through D1 again before it goes away...

CobraKai492d ago

That’s the sad reality of a game like this. I bought it, invested lots of money, and it can go away at anytime. I still think this was more fun than 2.

jeromeface491d ago

prob because 2 is a grindfest slog

spoonard489d ago

That's the bummer of 'games as a service'.
