"Visual Arts"

"Use of Narrative"

"Studio of the Year"

I thought NaughtyDog would of won something...at least one of those. The Last of Us was a huge achievement for the gaming industry, even with Uncharted years ago. I think they've proved themselves these days

Studio of the Year...Rockstar despite their Online being broken as hell at launch.

Abriael3578d ago (Edited 3578d ago )

That's easy explained. The Develop Awards are only about UK and European devs :D

Naughty Dog isn't there simply because they don't qualify :D

-Foxtrot3578d ago

Hmmm that's a shame, seems like they are missing out on some great devs.

If your doing awards like this then you really should be counting everyone in the gaming industry regardless what country they are based in.

hkgamer3578d ago

@foxtrot

I'm guessing this conference is based solely for European developers. Sometimes it just makes it easier when you exclude the rest. Some development may just be concentrating on the eu market and don't want to be overshadowed by anything else.

Maybr leave that to bigger things like gdc.

JBSleek3578d ago

You have to recognize where these awards actually take place. Also I would personally put Rockstar above Naughty Dog simply due to the scope and detail put into GTA.

TLOU is a masterpiece but from a gaming standpoint I can appreciate GTA more than I can TLOU, but ND should have absolutely won Use of Narrative.

I dare someone to show me a game with better narrative in recent years if at all.

"simply due to the scope and detail put into GTA"

Once you get past the hype, the same crap we all got sucked into with GTA4 you'll see that it's not as good as the hype made it out to be. Fantastic game but overhyped.

Take the top half of the map in GTAV...it felt empty at times. It was just huge countrysides and forests etc to give off the illusion that it was big in scope. What's the point of big if theres nothing much to do. Some things like oldschool GTA weapons and rampages aren't present in GTA and you would think with all the myths and legends we all came up with in past GTA games they would of included them for us to hunt down.

Big dosen't always mean better

The Last of Us was a new franchise, it changed things up compared to NaughtyDogs other games. At the end of the day GTA is...GTA, least you can give NaughtyDog brownie points for it being a new IP. Hey...least NaughtyDogs online was working from the start

@JBSleek

ok, you are pissing me off right now

i want to agree and at the same time disagree with your comment .

Spotie3578d ago

Scope is irrelevant when they don't exactly so the best job at it.

I don't give a damn how big it is; if you can't do it without flaws and bugs and the like, don't do it.

hkgamer3578d ago

@foxtrot

Not picking on you, just feel like I got something to say about your comments.

Gtaiv was a good game, was innovative with the mobile phone thing, though it did get annoying. Was a great game with a great story, my personal favourite. Added cover mechanics in an open world game.

I believe at that time it deserved those ratings. But sadly was a game that shows its age. Others have learnt the good and bad from it.

After all the awards TLOU won beating every game in history ...including all Developers awards

let GTAV get at least something after all hehe

JBSleek3578d ago

I do appreciate having these debates with you. Very intelligent.

Cerny's awesome as usual.

Media Molecule getting recognition warms the heart.

showtimefolks3578d ago

Cerny deserves it, sony deserves it.

R* i also have no problem with. No doubt what ND achieved is a masterpiece but let's not also forget what R* were able to do on ps3/xbox 360

can't wait to replay both on ps4

hkgamer3578d ago

I strongly believe cerny and his ps4 speech last year was what Sony needed. Someone who looks and sounds honest and isn't a super bigtime ceo.

More interested in money than giving fans what they want. Such a shame

CrimsonWing692d ago

With the amount of money they generated, I just don’t understand the scrubbing of this. It would’ve been fantastic for fans.

Profchaos2d ago

I really want to know who drove the decision to focus on multiplayer was it Rockstar or take two.

Because when online started taking off many of the studio leads began having falling outs and leading including a founder

Demetrius2d ago

Ikr mfs that greedy it's ridiculous

andy852d ago

This makes me sad. Trevor was one of my favourite characters in gaming

Demetrius2d ago

One of the reason I believe once gta 6 release, most of us thoroughly play it, enjoy the world they crafted then after that no offline support, no dlc at all
