Dragon Age Inquisition to Feature Complex Romance and Characters with "One Solid Sexual Orientation"

In a forthcoming AusGamers interview with Aussie expat and BioWare producer Cameron Lee, it was revealed the normally ambiguous approach to in-game romance in the realm of sexuality would be receiving a more specific option allowing for more complex relationships.

"The romances are more complex both in type of romances going forward and how you go through that romance," Lee explained to us. "The different types of sexual orientation of the different kinds of characters around you is also more complex than in previous games. I think there's going to be a lot more realistic... realistic... you know what I mean -- anyway, more engaging and more involved than in previous games. That's definitely the goal, and we are definitely going to go out there with some characters just being one sexual orientation. And that previously wasn't the case. The real world reflects that so we're going to make a game that reflects that as well."

It seems all they talk about is romance options.

MidnytRain3656d ago

Some companies do this now so people won't ***** about the them being homophobic.

joab7773656d ago

Exactly. We wanna make sure that in a world with dragons, witches, and breeches in the sky, that our sexual orientation is as realistic as possible. I dont want my black mage to like women and men! He better be into all races too!!

JsonHenry3656d ago

How about if I don't want ANY romance at all? Are there options to ignore them? I hope so. I'm tired of all this romance shit in games.

Myze3656d ago

Ignoring romances in ME and DA games have always been as easy as pretty much one answer of the wheel to derail the path. I see no problems with the way they were in ME/DA in terms of having a romance or not.

Eonjay3656d ago

Its been an interesting Tuesday evening on the interwebs.

Magicite3655d ago

No gays anymore? Thats a relief!

DeadlyFire3655d ago

Actually its the opposite of that. Now you know what characters are gay and which ones are not. As they likely will clearly show it in the game now. As before you could just pick anyone to be with no matter their preference. Now I suppose there will be romantic challenges for some types of people.

JustPlay43656d ago

So, no girl x girl? That sad or I can't read -_-

thorstein3656d ago

I think they are referring to NPCs being set in their sexuality. There can certainly be homosexual characters and NPCs but in Origins you could romance any character regardless of your character's gender.

Which I thought was better because in that world sexual orientation didn't matter. And why should it?

joab7773656d ago

What about ppl in the real world that are both.

Mr Pumblechook3656d ago

Orientation of people shouldn't matter. However it is unrealistic to depict all NPCs as being fluid in their taste when most (not all) people prefer one gender. A better way to be inclusive is to feature NPCs who are straight and some who are gay.

oof463655d ago

You know who you should be able to seduce in a Dragon Age game?

Dragons.

redwin3656d ago

This better be Oculos compatible . Ehe, !

Axonometri3656d ago

Here we go...

Well, My character is going to have two sexual solids... I don't care what EA thinks. If I want 2 and I want to use them both I will!

spoonard3656d ago

May as well be reading a book instead of playing a game. I always wanted in depth conversational options in my RPG's, but these games take it to a ridiculous level!

Dragon Age: Inquisition Retro Review – A Nostalgic Leap Short Of Legendary

Dragon Age: Inquisition, developed by BioWare, is the third installment in the cherished Dragon Age series. It represents a major evolution from its predecessor, Dragon Age II, incorporating elements that were well-loved in the original Dragon Age: Origins but also introducing new features that stand on their own. While Inquisition improves upon Dragon Age II in many respects, it falls short of the exceptional standards set by Origins.

The quality of these free games has been awesome. Before anyone says they are not free I was already giving Amazon $6 a month for prime shipping and video this isn't why I pay for my subscription

Teflon02909d ago

Still technically paying for it, even if it wasn't your intent. They've been giving out games with Twitch prime, they just changed the name. It's the same sub as that was. If you weren't aware, great. But you're paying for it.

That being said, I don't personally care. For me as long as you're willing to pay that for 1 service and get more. I personally take it as free. Like prime video, music though the prime version is trash, and all the Twitch benefits are all free to me because I didn't care about those when I got it. Just comes with it.

Only noted because that's technically wrong as a defense to that argument, whether I'm on yourside with the initial statement lol

mkis007909d ago

It's free to anyone who has already been paying. IDK why people need to split hairs.

TinkerNation909d ago

How does Prime Gaming work? Do you keep the games, or is it only as long as you have Prime?

Germaximus909d ago

lol Nice distraction from how they're now charging people to increase viewership. It's "just an option." /wink lol
